Wayne Jett’s Remarks on Election Results

We won!

Today, our city stood up and proved we are ready for the next step in our evolution.

We are ready for a fresh perspective in city government that will move us into the future.

I am so thankful for your vote of confidence.

When I announced my candidacy six months ago, there were those who said this couldn’t be done.

I’m not a politician, public speaker, and an insider.

But I knew what I had to bring to the table: a tireless work ethic, a vision for our city, and the support of so many friends and family who I knew would step up with me.

It is because of you that we’re celebrating today.

I couldn’t be more proud of what we accomplished together.

Thank you, first, to my beautiful wife, Amber, and my four children who have supported me every step of the way.

Thank you to my friends and business associates, many of whom are here today.

And thank you to my volunteers and interns, who made countless phone calls, knocked on nearly every door in McHenry, and talked to thousands of McHenry citizens.

Now, the hard work begins.

I have spoken with Mayor Low, and she has pledged her full support and resources to help with the transition of leadership.

Beginning immediately, I will work with you to develop a vision for our city, charting a course for our future, starting by putting in place a transition team full of our city’s best and brightest.

I will revitalize McHenry through economic development, creating good-paying jobs and improving your quality of life.
And I will lead on reducing spending, investing in our infrastructure, and ultimately lowering our property taxes.

I am ready to lead and take on this challenge.

It’s time to get to work.
