Algonquin Township Street Sweeper Bids Range from $253,000 to $308,000

I went to my second bid letting yesterday.

Algonquin Township Road Commissioner Bob Miller had requested prices for a new street sweeper.

From left to right are Rich Bakker and Darrel Simon from Standard Equipment, Algonquin Township Clerk Chuck Lutzow, Road Commissioner Bob Miller and Kevin Watt from R.N.O W., Inc.

Three bids were received:

  • $253,700 for an Elgin street sweeper from R.N.O.W., Inc.
  • $267,622 for one with the manufacturer unclear from Schwarze Industries
  • $307,719.25 for a street sweeper from Standard Equipment

There were enough exceptions that Miller decided he needed some time to sort out the differences.

  1. Hey stand? What office was Abe elected to that you should ask such a stupid question of him?

  2. In his position as clerk, he has to attend these meetings.

He has nothing to do with what is purchased or sold.

    He is and honest man.

  3. just like the clan on there way out in Lakewood!Agenda the other night ,a new $177,00.00 truck!!

OH a $5000.00 performance BONE US for the interm village manager!!!

  4. Schwarze sweeper seems to come from Alabama, never seen one around here before.

    Standard sells Elgin sweepers also.

Like most binds the minimum specs must be meet, then if any additional options are added.

The replacement sweeper was in the works long before the election.

One less thing for Andrew to have to deal with.

  5. This is so crazy.

Bob Miller is actively trying to unionize the Algonquin Township Road District while also trying to get appointed to Andrew Gasser’s vacated county board seat?

Everything is in chaos inside the party.

No one knows what is going on.

Bob Miller might actually pull it all off.

Would Gasser actually fire all the employees at the township?

  6. Street sweeper?

When ANY public thoroughfare is ‘muddied’ I thought it was the responsibility of the ‘muddier’ to clean it up?

If so, why are the taxpayers on the hook for a street sweeper for Township roads?

  7. Re: “Would Gasser actually fire all the employees at the township?”

    This is Illinois.

Not one court would tolerate such action.

If (I have heard it has already happened) the Highway Dept. votes to unionize, it will give Andrew ammunition to eliminate the Road District and hand it over to the County because in short order, the Township employees would garner the same wage package as MCDOT.

  8. Gravel edged roads, bad for motorcycle and walkers.
Damages the payment as does excessive other debris that collects where the wind will not blow it off.
Sweeping helps with run off and storm sewers.
Contracting out the work is a crap shoot depending on condtions.

  9. There is nothing negative to draining the swamp. Get rid of evil before it encompasses you and your family. What is negative about that! That is why Nob is such and idiot. They don’t think any of their comments through before their knee-jerk posting.

  10. Bits and pieces, but ignorant of the whole big picture.

You are an idiot, Angel. Mossad is running the country. Get a clue.

  11. $253,700 for an Elgin street sweeper from R.N.O.W., Inc., http://www.rnow-inc.com/, not a Elgin street sweeper distributor.

$267,622 for one with the manufacturer unclear from Schwarze Industries, same machine possibly as R.N.O.W, substandard Brit machine, company bidding against disributor to make their bid look better.

Standard Equipment bid on a more dependable and easier to get parts Elgin sweeper.

Wow Cal, words matter more than pictures!

  12. Schwarze is a brand of sweeper I think.

Bob is working until the end.

If you have planned to replace a street sweeper then you replace it.

Post winter clean up is one big reason to sweep.

After any type of construction you sweep.

    Fall is sweeping season.

It’s a very expensive piece of equipment for sure.

    No evil involved.

  13. “If (I have heard it has already happened) the Highway Dept. votes to unionize, it will give Andrew ammunition to eliminate the Road District and hand it over to the County because in short order, the Township employees would garner the same wage package as MCDOT.”

And with Andrew being the tax fighter he is, may just do it.

If he did, he’d be able to write his own ticket to anything he may have an interest in politically!

Those spiteful idiots may be the cause of their own demise!

  14. Swordfish, Lutzow plays both sides.

    He stands for nothing.

    I wouldn’t call that good.

Wouldn’t call it bad, but I would call it playing your cards close to your vest and not letting the voters know what you’re really about.
