In the spirit of raising public awareness during May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month, the McHenry County Mental Health Board (MHB) invites community members to a Town Hall Meeting to discuss mental health, substance use disorder, and intellectual and developmental disability related services and community needs.
The MHB Town Hall Meeting will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the McHenry County Mental Health Board, 620 Dakota Street, Crystal Lake.
For over 65 years, Mental Health America has led the observance of May is Mental Health Month by reaching millions of people through the media, local events and screenings.
The MHB welcomes our community to join us in spreading the word that mental health is essential to overall health.
As Mental Health Awareness Month, May is a the perfect time for our community to acknowledge the importance of mental health and take action to ensure that individuals with mental health, substance use disorder, and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities have access to prevention, treatment, and recovery support services.
The voice of McHenry County residents is an important part of the MHB’s planning process and development of plans for future service needs.
Community residents are encouraged to contribute to the local conversation by participating in the Town Hall Meeting through sharing their stories of success and/or offering ideas for system improvement and enhancement.
