ORVILLE H. BRETTMAN ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR McHENRY COUNTY BOARD DISTRICT

A Genuine Conservative Republican Pledges to Bring Community & Business Experience, Sound Judgment, and Know-How to Office

Huntley Illinois – Monday June 5, 2017–Orville H. Brettman of Huntley, former Village President of Carpentersville Illinois declared his candidacy for the McHenry County Board District 6 today.

Orville Brettman

“I’m encouraged and enthused to announce my candidacy for the McHenry County Board District 6.

“In many ways the liberal ‘go along to get along’ members of the County Board have taken us off the rails when it comes to taxation, spending, and oversight of staff. These things must change.

“During my term as Village President of Carpentersville Illinois, I gained an understanding of the complexities of local government including its capabilities and limitations.

“In my candidacy, I see a helpful and positive role for membership on the County Board, bringing clear consistent conservative input and voting,” Brettman said.

“Most importantly, a Board Member should be an advocate for the people of his District.

“There are many issues that will come before us in the next four years; to my eye, the most critical are taxes, transportation, water and controlling government spending.

“In addition, we need to never lose sight of all that makes McHenry County unique among the Counties of Illinois and strive to preserve the lifestyle of all of its citizens.”

“Secondly, a Board Member should be a vital and active communications link between the people and the County.

District 6 is the largest McHenry County Board District.

“In the many roles I have had during my life it has been my honor to have known and worked with business leaders, educators, farmers, craftsmen, and laborers, as well as scientists and students

“Working with all manner of folks across northern Illinois gave me understanding of their needs and desires, as well as the immense satisfaction derived from working on their behalf.

“Thirdly, having sat at the head of a Board of Trustees as President I know of the concerted effort required to do The People’s Business when opinions differ as they often do.

“Having been handed lemons more than once in my political career I’ve nonetheless always been successful in making lemonade.

“Fourth, because of this experience, I have ‘people skills’ that can be used to bring people together toward common goals and unity.

“The issues before us continue to be balancing fiscal responsibility with sound judgment, and an ironclad determination to reduce taxes.

“I look forward to a positive campaign, meeting citizens, and tackling challenges.”

  1. Orv would be a breath of fresh air!

    Untainted by the “round mound”.

  2. I look forward to learning more about Mr. Brettman
    and his stance on issues.

It is always great to have choices on the ballot.

  3. Did you ever get a bright, shiny red apple that looks great? Then you bite into it and the middle is rotten!!

  4. Good to know that even in 1975 he was on the side of law enforcement.

  5. Beware of this fellow!

‘Ole Jack Roeser called him a ‘skunk.’

  6. If greedy Jack Roeser who has been stealing from C’Ville and Dundee taxpayers for years doesn’t like Orville, it means Orville must be a stand up guy.

  7. Make the Legion of justice great again! Oooops! Tic, tock, tic, tock…

  8. Bot:

Jack Roeser died on June 13, 2014.

To impugn his character as you have, anonymously, is malicious and uncalled for.

Your libelous statement may be actionable, which of course would open the door to exposing your true identity, via court order, in a defamation suit.

Perhaps the candidate, Orville Brettman, would like to publicly disavow himself of your ill-intended and ill-informed statement.

  9. Jonathan:

“At common law, a cause of action for a purely personal injury did not survive the death of either the injured party or the wrongdoer. Actions for libel and slander — based on injury to a most intimate human quality, reputation — were clearly of the sort which did not survive, and a pending defamation action was held to abate upon the death of either party. While section 339 of the Probate Act [now 755 ILCS 5/27-6] has reversed the general rule with regard to the abatement of actions for personal injury, actions for slander and libel are specifically excepted from the statute, and remain subject to the common-law rule.”

    Tunnell v. Edwardsville Intelligencer, 43 Ill.2d 239 (1969).

    Stick to what you know.

Threats of baseless defamation lawsuits and unmaking anonymous commenters are silly.

  10. everyone today is on “russian collusion” alert; so, if he was working on keeping socialist/commies in check from where would you suppose the criticism of him is emanating?

wasn’t obama associated closely with bill ayers, farrakhan and the clintons?

everybody voted for obama for president.

we know how that turned out.

sounds like the things brettman is criticized for are also in his distant past.

    i’m a fair person.

i’ll be interested to hear more.

i’m definitely not any kind of fan of socialism which is a parasitic philosophy living off of democracy and capitalism.
