Police Make Another Arrest in Connection with Murder/Home Invasion

Sheriff Bill Prim announces the arrest of Charles A. Campos, 31, of McHenry in connection with the Home Invasion / Murder that occurred on May 27, 2017.

On June 15, 2017 the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team (MIAT), with the support of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, formally charged CAMPO.

CAMPO is the second suspect arrested in connection with the Home Invasion and Murder of Donald Jouravleff.

Jouravleff had been shot in his home, in the 1800 block of W. Davis Avenue, around 1 a.m. on May 27, 2017.

Jouravleff succumbed to his injuries later that night.

Preliminary investigation indicated two masked men were responsible for this shooting.

Investigators worked tirelessly and developed suspects in connection to this crime. On June 15, 2017 CAMPO was taken into custody.

Sheriff Prim stated;

“This is further evidence of the determination and excellence of the investigators involved in this case.

“It reflects the continued pursuit to bring justice and resolution for this heinous crime.”

This investigation remains extremely active by the Sheriff’s Office, McHenry City Police, and MIAT, with additional arrests expected.

The task force continues to ask the public’s assistance in identifying additional offenders involved in the incident.

Those wishing to provide their name for a tip or information that leads to the arrest of the offenders will be forwarded to the McHenry County Crime Stoppers for a reward of up to $5,000.

No further information will be released at this time as the case remains active.

Charles A. Campo was charged with the following:

  • 1 Count of 1st Degree Murder (Class M Felony)
  • 1 Count of Home Invasion (Class X Felony)
  • 1 Count of Residential Burglary (Class 1 Felony)

Bond: $5,000,000. Next Court Date: TO BE DETERMINED
