Sheriff’s Office Investigates Hit and Run Pedestrian Crash

A 22-year-old Wonder Lake man was arrested Sunday and charged in connection with a hit-and-
run accident which seriously injured a pedestrian in unincorporated McHenry.

Lincoln Road and Emily Lane, McHenry

Preliminary investigation indicated that at 2:23 a.m., on July 9, a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu sedan headed south in the 3000 block of Lincoln Road near Emily Lane struck an adult male pedestrian who had been near the edge of the roadway.

The Malibu left the scene and was located by Sheriff’s Deputies elsewhere within the City of McHenry.

Alexsandro J. Tackett of Wonder Lake, IL, was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The victim was transported to Centegra Hospital – McHenry by McHenry Township Fire Protection District, then subsequently flown by Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he remained in stable but critical condition.

No airbags deployed within the Malibu and it is unknown whether Tackett was wearing his seatbelt.

Lincoln Road remained closed for over 5 hours during the investigation.

Tackett did not suffer injuries from the impact and was taken into custody for Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident and Failure to Report an Injury Accident.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit. Members of the McHenry Police Department assisted with the investigation.

Arrested   Alexsandro J. Tackett (male 22), Wonder Lake, IL

Charges:

  • Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident (class 4)
  • Failure to Report an Injury Accident (class 2)
