Take a look at the comments (222 as of this morning) under this Facebook posting by Governor Bruce Rauner after he signed Senate Bill 31.
If you want to read the new statute, as one of the commenters below did, you can find it here.
Supporters of the legislation call it the “Trust Act,”
Opponents say it makes Illinois a “sanctuary state.”
Some of the comments are seen below:
Governor Rauner lost my vote today.
If you haven’t read the bill, you need to read it.
Not a single republican congressman from Illinois voted for this bill. …See More
This was the last straw Bruce Rauner you have officially put the nail in the coffin. Sad day in Illinois where being illegal is not illegal. Gotcha, your starting to sound like a bleeding heart libtard
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Creates the Illinois Trust Act. Provides that a law enforcement agency or official shall not detain or continue to detain any individual solely on the basis of any immigration detainer …See More
I like the comment about the farm animal.
Now, that makes sense (unlike the signing of this bill).
It’s a great day for illegal immigrants who want to drive drunk, beat their spouses or partners, engage in unlawful gang activity and prey on the vulnerable.
As citizens and legal residents move away, criminals who are here illegally will take their place.
Looks like another measure to ensure the very lucrative flow of drugs into Chicago.
Ever wonder why great efforts have been made in Chicago to ensure that only the criminals are armed?
CP for Governor!
What do you think this is going to do to your property values and
equity as more people will be fleeing this state ?
You know what the answer to that question is.
Rauner and other Repubs are not getting elected. T
he Swamp in Illinois and behind McConnel and Ryan are demonstrating there is no difference between the parties.
Dems voted to burn down the White House today, McConnel vowed to stop them and Rauner agreed signing legislation to do so by burning it down in three years.
Senate Bil 31 (SB 31) was signed into law as Public Act 100-0463 (PA 100-0463) by Republican Governor Bruce Rauner on Monday August 28, 2017.

An important aspect of the new law was a decision (Case No. 11 C 5452) by US District Judge John Lee on September 30, 2016.
That decision put Federal immigration case law from the Northern District of Illinois in conflict with the US Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policy.
So Governor Rauner has sided with the Federal case law, with the understanding that if a judge issues a warrant for an arrest, an illegal immigrant can be arrested.
Maybe he hopes illegal immigrants will report lawbreakers, with no fear of the illegal immigrants being deported.
However, Chicago has such a Sanctuary policy, and Chicago crime is awful.
Not sure if Governor Rauner has addressed that point.
Would be good to hear more information from the Governor’s office about this topic.
Who, in their right mind, would ever be a cop in Chi-Congo?
Applicants should be sent for psychological examination.
