McHenry County Jail Makes Front Page of Saturday Tribune — 33 Comments

  1. And this new bill is exactly why every law abiding citizen should be packing heat!

\Thank you, Sheriff Prim for exercising caution and safety standards above some stupid liberal Sanctuary bill.

Curren is a Progressive Democrat who poses as a Republican.

  2. Maybe question is if it is lawful to ignore a detainer issued by a federal agency under DHS.

  3. All Illinois Sheriff deputies (even those in Lake County, Chris) swear the following:

“I do solemnly swear (affirm) that I will support the
Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of
the State of Illinois, and that I will faithfully discharge
the duties of the office of …. to the best of my ability.”
    (Source: Illinois Constitution.)

Immigration laws have been passed by the U.S. Congress and therefor are ancillary to the “Constitution of the United States”.

What the State Legislature and Bruce Rauner did is a clear violation of the United States and Illinois Constitutions.

    Prim did the correct thing.

When Rauner originally ran for office he stated that immigration was a federal issue.

    He obviously cannot be trusted.

  4. God bless all immigrants and all countries of this world. Tic, tock, tic, tock…

  5. Thank you Sheriff Prim.

This county is way safer with you in the control room!

  6. Our Nation is the most welcoming of all nations in the world in admitting “legal” immigrants to its homeland. In recent years, approximately one million immigrants per year came to the U.S. These people waited in line and followed all of the rules.

The mostly leftist and highly biased media would have we Americans believe that “all” immigrants, legal and illegal, are equal in standing.

They do this be simply referring to illegal immigrants as “just” immigrants.

Many politicians from the Democrat Party do the same.

The useful idiots and the uninformed are easily conned by the media and the Democrat Party.

  7. The sunshine blog is here to make all of us better “informed” citizens…tic, tock, tic, tock…

  8. The Chicago Tribune article reveals different counties have had different policies regarding detaining people based on their immigration status (such as an ICE detainer).

McHenry County Jail Declines to Release Man With ICE Hold, Despite New State Law

by Amanda Marrazzo and Robert McCoppin

    September 1, 2017

“In Kane County, the new law has no practical effect because the county already had a policy not to detain people on their immigration status alone without a judge’s warrant, said Lt. Chris Collins, a sheriff’s spokesman.

That’s also the case in Cook and DuPage counties.”

Governor Signs Law Limiting Police on Immigration

    by Graham Milldrum

    August 28, 2017

“Illinois law enforcement are not longer to hold people on civil immigration warrants, also known as immigration detainers, after Gov. Bruce Rauner signed a bill into law Monday.

Detainers are requests from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to law enforcement agencies to hold a suspected deportable immigrant long enough for immigration authorities to pick them up.

But federal courts have found the requests aren’t sufficient for local jails to hold someone after bail has been posted for or beyond their sentence.”

  10. Thank you Sheriff Bill Primm….for having a set of brass ones….and upholding U.S. Constitutional law……………………….
and Bruce, one term limit for you ……….

So long …you tried politics,,,, now go back fly fishing with your Buddy Rahm Emanuel…..

  11. BRAVO Sheriff Prim !

Now don’t cave to pressure from any anti- American political groups, the people are with you !

  12. Lady Liberty is proud of this sunshine blog.

After all, it is no coincidence she holds a sunshine torch to welcome immigrants…tic, tock, tic, tock…

    Immigration Enforcement

    Detainer Policy

ICE placed detainers on aliens who have been arrested on local criminal charges and for whom ICE possesses probably cause to believe that they are removable from the United States, so that ICE can take custody of the alien when he or she is released from local custody.

When law enforcement agencies fail to honor immigration detainers and release serious criminal offenders, it undermines ICE’s ability to protect public safety and carry out its mission.

The new detainer form (I-247A) was created by ICE, and its implementation on April 2, 2017, will fulfill the requirement of Secretary Kelly’s February 20, 2017 memo, ‘Enforcement of Immigration Laws to SERve the national Interest’ to ‘eliminate existing detainer forms and replace them with a new form to more effectively communicate with recipient law enforcement agencies.’

Investigating the Potential US Citizenship of Individuals Encountered by ICE

This Directive establishes ICE policy and procedures for ensuring that the potential U.S. citizenship of individuals encountered by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, agents, and attorneys is immediately and carefully investigated and analyzed.”

  14. Sheriff Prim is doing the correct action here, nothing.

Let the state bring legal action, then fight it.

I would think the FEDs would want to join in on the stance of the sheriff as well.

What part of illegal immigration do the snowflakes not understand?

  15. Here is an attempt to summarize one point of the new law.

Illinois lawmakers (Senators, Representatives, Governor) decided those arrested locally and wanted by ICE are free to go after they post bond unless there is a federal or local judicial warrant (indicating a more serous crime).

ICE must arrive before the person posts bond.

    Unless it is Cook County.

    ++++++++

From the Chicago Tribune article, Cook County takes it one step further.

“Cook County officials said ICE can take an inmate into custody in court or on a warrant, but not from jail on a detainer.”

So Cook County will not release those in Cook County jail that have an ICE detainer to ICE, unless there is a warrant.

Other Counties seem to release those in county jail to ICE if there is an ICE detainer but no warrant.

    +++++

Not an expert in this area.

  16. The new bill definitely will create a headache for ICE.

Obstructing DHS to placate the left to garner more votes seems incredibly foolhardy considering Illinois is in dire financial straits.

    Declined Detainer Outcome Report

    Update:

“ICE remains committed to publishing the most accurate information available regarding declined detainers across the country and continues to analyze and refine its reporting methodologies.

While this analysis is ongoing, the publication of the Declined Detainer Outcome Report (DDOR) will be temporarily suspended.”

    ———

“The Declined Detainer Outcome Report is a weekly report that shows those jurisdictions with the highest volume of declined detainers, and includes a list of sample crimes associated with those released individuals.

This report is mandated by the president’s executive order “Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States.”

    ———-

Three such reports are published at the website listed below under the “Archived Reports” tab.

    February 11 – February 17, 2017

    February 4 – February 10, 2017

    January 28 – February 3, 2017

    Then the reports were suspended.

Each state has its own rules for honoring ICE detainers.

In some states, the rules vary by county.

  18. Some disgusting comments here.

Mexicans are a part of our local, McHenry County culture- head south and laugh and cringe at the idea of no burritos, tacos, fajitas…—- those of you who are over 48 years old, may not see that. I get sad and confused when I think about the people who cut your lawn in Lakewood, aren’t welcome – and are stigmatized as a problem.

The Dreamer program should exist – sanctuary cities keep America in check. That does not mean “Wear a Burka? Come on down!” – we all aren’t supposed to agree.

  19. So, Ken, are you ok with illegal aliens, illegal immigrants violating our U.S. laws?

Are you ok Democrats wanting to give citizenship to these people?

Do you know about the term “useful idiots”?

  20. Ken, please remove your locks and allow undocumented guests to use your home.

Of course you can have them cut your lawn, watch your children. I use local American teenage labor for these things.

But don’t dare refuse to share anything you or your family has.

Once you live up to this I will then consider your comment. If not please keep the hypocrisy to yourself.

  21. If ICE wants the prisoner, why can’t the Sheriff just transfer him up to the immigration floor of the jail and make him the the Fed’s problem?

  22. Great job Prim, we always new you would be the right man for the job.

  23. Hey Ken? Are you also sad and confused about how every weekend we hear Spanish on loud speakers (and they are all horrible singers) partying in a once entirely English speaking neighborhood? And every other day there are endless explosions of some kind of fireworks? (Lord only knows what they are celebrating.) I am sick of their partying at the expense of my dog’s and my sanity. (My dog is very fearful of the loud pops and bangs that constantly punctuate the evenings. And she’s Mexican!) When did this invasion get so out of hand?

  24. Nice work, Sheriff Prim.

Nygren would have released him, no questions asked.
