Sheriff’s Office Investigates a Single Vehicle Fatal Traffic Crash

A 39-year-old Wauconda man was pronounced dead following a single vehicle crash in unincorporated Harvard on Saturday evening.

At approximately 7:05 p.m. on September 23, 2017, members of the Harvard Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Police responded to the scene of a single vehicle traffic accident in the 6500 block of White Oak Road.

Hunter Road runs into White Oak Road near Chemung west of Harvard.

The investigation indicated that a 2015 Dodge Dart was traveling eastbound on Hunter Road.

The driver of the Dodge failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Hunter Road and White Oaks Road.

The vehicle proceeded through the intersection and over a berm west of the intersection, which resulted in it going airborne and landing on its roof.

The driver and sole occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing his seat belt and alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor at this time.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
