Sheriff’s Office Investigates a Single Vehicle Fatal Traffic Crash

A 61-year-old Lake Villa man was pronounced dead following a single vehicle crash in unincorporated McHenry late Wednesday morning.

At approximately 10:19 a.m. on September 27, 2017, members of the McHenry Fire Protection District, McHenry Police Department, and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a single vehicle traffic crash that occurred in the 5400 block of Flanders Road, McHenry.

The investigation indicated that a 2004 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on Flanders Road when for unknown reasons it exited the roadway to the north, came back onto the roadway and exited the roadway to the south where it struck a tree.

The driver and sole occupant was transported to Centegra-McHenry where he was pronounced dead.

He was wearing his seatbelt and there was no airbag deployment.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigations Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

  1. What is up with all the “single vehicle” crashes we are experiencing now? Does this tie into any of the FADEC crashes of late?

    It’s like an epidemic 24hrs a day, and right in front of the cops.

    Strange how we rarely, if ever, are told of the results of these fatal accident reports/investigations
    by either the media or the police. Why is that ?

  3. What’s with all these traffic accidents in general! I’ve never seen so many in such a short amount of time. It makes me want to stay off the roads, but that’s not an option for those of us who drive long distances to get to our jobs.
