Both District 2 Incumbents Retiring from McHenry County Board

Jim Heisler

Two incumbents–Jim Heisler and Donna Kurtz–who have served on the McHenry County Board for more than one term have decided not to see re-election.

On the Board going on 24 years is Jim Heisler.

He served as Vice Chairman under Tina Hill, stepping up to be Acting Chairman when Hill was unable to serve in that capacity.

He also ran against Joe Gottemoller to succeed Hill, but lost.

Donna Kurtz was first elected in 2010.

After supporting Hill for Chairman, Kurtz was appointed to chair the Public Health Committee.

There she cleaned house at the McHenry County 708 Mental Health Board.

Upon Gottemoller’s election as Board Chairman, Kurtz was banished to Coventry (not the subdivision).

The only name that has surfaced as a candidate for 2018 is former Board member Carolyn Schofield.

Schofield ran for the Republican nomination for State Representative in the district where Allen Skillicorn emerged victorious.

  1. Hammerand will also not run again and Wilcox will leave if he wins his State Senate seat.

    Kopsell also will not run.

So there you have it. Districts 2, 3 and 4.

Then you have the Franks appointment in District 1 and maybe a challenge in District 5.

District 6 has two candidates declared.

So, unless you live in District 6, NOW is the time for all you commentators to get up from your keyboards and start circulating petitions or forever hold your peace.

  2. The “round mound” rat intimidation of Heisler did its trick.

I have cancelled all of my bank accounts at the Franks bank.
