The McHenry County Finance and Audit Committee followed the example of the Human Resources Committee and recommended that the next Sheriff, Clerk, Recorder and Treasurer receive the same salaries being paid incumbents today.
There seems to be no disagreement on the topic.
Too bad they weren’t shown the IMRF letter.
Why is the Recorder on the list?
Is that office up for election in 2018 or may it be abolished via the Tirio referendum next year?
Questioning – It is not closed YET.
That process is not done while the current clerk is still in office.
I probably just forgot to include it.
If abolished, it would be moot anyway.
If you read between the lines on the Kosiba letter he says that you can make adjustments in the salaries paid for elected officials.
THerefore, you can reduce their salaries if they take the pensions and increase them if they don’t.
That gets around the problem.
The Recorder wasn’t on the resolution.
It appears that these salary discussions happen before the office comes up for re-election.
It was the Human Resource committee that reviewed the measure, not finance.
