“Legislative Ethics Commission”
That’s it.
And proving that it is an oxymoron is the twelve-month time limit for considering complaints while there has been no Legislative Inspector General to process complaints that go to the Legislative Ethics Commission in a timely fashion.
The position has been vacant since 2014.
The previous Legislative Inspector General was former State Rep. Tom Homer, a Democrat from Peoria and ally of House Speaker Mike Madign.
State Senator Karen McConnaughay, a member of the Commission.
A piece by the Illinois News Network writes this about McConnaughay:
“McConnaughay, R-St. Charles, says she feels ethics commissioners were misled because IGO administrative staff repeatedly told them there were no active cases.”
