Smoking Out Sewer Leaks in Lakewood

Looking for places where non-sewage may be entering Lakewood’s sewer system, the firm hired by the Village Board was out pumping “smoke” into Country Club Additions pipes.

Driving west on Lake Avenue Monday morning, what seemed like steam seemed to be coming out of a manhole at Gate 21 in Lakewood.

Looking across the street, a truck was seen and the realization entered my mind that this was the work to find leaks in the sewer system where unwanted water might be entering the sewer sysetm.

Here is what the testing looked like across Lake Avenue on Gate 22, Sunset Avenue.

By the afternoon, the operation had moved down to Lakewood’s last street, Gate 3.

A report will be prepared for the Village citing locations that might have contributed to the summer’s flooding.
