When public officials make mailings before an election, one can place great odds that it is being done in an attempt to improve their chances of election.
A Friend of McHenry County Blog sent the following images of a mailing made by McHenry County Clerk Mary McClellan, presumably with taxpayers’ money, for the stated purpose of telling people they can ask to get a ballot by mail starting December 20th.
Is there a change in her campaign?
Instead of her picture we have a pic of Gil on the couch?
When you cover the address box on a piece of mail you may want to cover the bar code – it does contain relative information.
Mary McClellan is the best thing that’s ever happeneded to McHenry County!
She’s a blessing to everyone, except extremists!

Little Mary “Sunshine” McClellan casts a dark pall over the county.
She’ll actually make the crooked judges already in position in McHenry County look good.

What does the county ethics ordinance say about this?
I detest Typhoid Mary as much as anyone here, but the only real fault that I can find with this mailing is the fact that she put her name in bold on the return address.
Informing people about mail-in voting is, after all, part of her job.
I don’t like her plastering her name and picture all over everything, and IMHO it should be illegal, but it is currently legal and most politicians do it.
I did not receive one of these postcards yet, and if she did not send them county wide but only to certain areas, then I will have a real problem with it.
