Also happens with fires, as was seen Saturday night as a result of the Merlin’s fire in Crystal Lake.

Now comes notice from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department:

Here’s what the Sheriff’s Office was doing:

On Monday, January 1, 2018 at about 8:15 a.m., members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a home in the 2000 block of Grandview Drive in unincorporated Johnsburg for a check for well-being.

Upon their arrival, deputies made contact through a closed door with a distraught 27-year- old
woman.

The woman declined to open the door and eventually refused further communication with police, but information from other sources indicated that the woman was threatening to shoot herself.

Due to the situation and the extremely cold temperatures, the McHenry County Multi-Jurisdictional SWAT Team was activated to assist.

Lake in the Hills Police Department responded with its mobile command post; the McHenry Township Fire Protection District assisted with a warming station; and officers from the McHenry City Police Department and Johnsburg Police Department assisted at the scene.

At approximately noon, contact was reestablished with the woman, who was alone in the residence.

She was subsequently transported by ambulance to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock.

No one was injured during the incident and no weapon was recovered from the residence.
