63.98% Average Increase for School Districts

Today McHenry County Blog is revealing numbers for School Districts

In summary from 2002 to 2016:

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) has increased by 33.8%.

County Population increased by 10.55%.
County Assessments have increased 29.44%.
School District tax collections increased by 63.98%.

A levy increase more than 33.8% and identifies government bodies that are living beyond the taxpayers’ ability to pay OR the voters approved referendums which increased levies.

Three McHenry County school districts increased property taxes over 100% in fourteen year time.

  • Riley CCSD #18 topped the list at 122.17% increase
  • CCSD #300 in Hampshire, Carpentersville and parts of Algonquin & LITH saw a 101.79% increase
  • Huntley CCSD #158 residents saw a 100.07% increase in property taxes
  • McHenry CCSD #15 increased taxes 99.87%
