TOI Urges Township Action Against HB 3133 and HB 4637

An email from the Township Officials of Illinois:

Below is a link to House Bill 3133, sponsored by Representative Sam Yingling, which creates the Township Modernization and Consolidation Act.

The bill provides that all townships in a county may be dissolved by referendum, through either citizen petition or county board ordinance.

Bob Anderson

If approved in a referendum, the township functions would automatically be transferred to the county.

House Bill 3133 has been posted for a hearing in the House Government Consolidation & Modernization Committee on April 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.

Representative Yingling is Chairman of the Committee and it will be a very tough battle defeating this bill in committee if it is called.

However, we need to make our State Representatives aware of this bill and encourage them to vote “NO” on House Bill 3133 should it come before the House for a vote.

Also, House Bill 4637, House Amendment #1, sponsored by Representative Yingling, would allow the township boards in McHenry County to put the question on the ballot to dissolve a township.

If passed, everything would be turned over to the county.

Former Algonquin Township Road Commissioner Bob Miller and Algonquin Township Road Commissioner Andrew Gasser.

The bill ALSO provides that any township in McHenry AND Lake County that has a road district with 15 or fewer miles SHALL abolish the road district with the power transferred to the township.

PLEASE CONTACT YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE TODAY IN HIS/HER HOME DISTRICT OFFICE AND ASK HIM/HER TO OPPOSE HOUSE BILL 3133 AND HOUSE BILL 4637, HOUSE AMENDMENT #1.

The General Assembly is out of Springfield until April 9 so it is important that you contact your State Representative in their District Office IMMEDIATELY so they are aware of this bad bill.

TOI Urges Township Action Against HB 3133 and HB 4637 — 15 Comments

  1. This should be a call to action to approve it not oppose the bill. Why on earth would you oppose letting the people decide this issue?

  2. Observing? You are certainly an idiot to think approval is a good thing.

  3. Reick and Wheeler Dealer are in TOI’s pocket. But still call. Wheeler Dealer Barb Wheeler will be out of politics soon and isn’t seeking election. So TOI’s grip on her may be non-existent, now.

Reick should be told if he dares votes against the bill and the suffering taxpayers, he will NEVER receive your vote. Even if he runs against Jack Franks’ kid!

Maybe lazy boy Reick needs a primary opponent next go around. He won’t spend any of his own money on campaigning, so he might be out with a conservative backlash.

  4. Cindy, please take a good look at what townships actually do (steal, cheat, waste money, create pension-fiefs, do nothing constructive, act as cash-cow conduits for illegal aliens, etc., etc.)

-and forget about romantic fairy tales about what they did in the 1800s, before the Civil War.

Golly, more township skullduggery (it NEVER ends, darling!) http://www.daily-chronicle.com/2018/02/02/embattled-kingston-township-assessor-fails-to-appear-in-court/aev852m/

  5. Rickey? You don’t understand my message. Think “Mad Max” more than pre Civil War. I am trying to clue these nitwits into what they are going to have to do in “neighborhoods”. In the meantime – fight the filthy globalist agenda in every stinking way possible.

  6. HB3133, take this out,”or county board ordinance”, and I’d support it.
Would you want a Jack Franks type board to decide for you?
Major chance in our gov, perhaps a 2/3 vote to change, like a amendment, would be appropriate.
Proof of a savings before hand seems logical also.

  7. Finally, nob said something intelligent. Second sentence in his post is precisely the whole point.

  8. Rachael Lawrence will be proposing changing AT like McH Twh is by voting to eliminate the Road Dist and put control of roads under the township board.
I support this effort even if it doesn’t save a dime.
Better over sight I’d hope, and eliminate any chance of electing a loser in the future.
    Perfect in everyway.
Oh, Rachael may be back peddling now that I support her effort.

  9. The Cooperation between far right Bob Anderson, Dave McSweeney, and Dem lefty Sam Yingling is commendable?
Working together to make big gov happen.
    Yamon!

  10. And maybe it will be nepotism and patronage on a grander scale. More hands in the till. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. As we have learned the game remains the same, only the players change.

  11. Nob your right turn hiring oversight to trustees then not one man hiring and firing maybe then a lesperance won’t be employed by Condon better driving record than a couple of condoms men maybe we won’t have employees who try choke out there wife still employed out among the public

  12. SUPPORT, SUPPORT, SUPPORT this bill and every opportunity to get the weight of this state and smaller taxing bodies OFF OUR BACKS! We are BEYOND BROKE and we are NOT an employment agency!
