Senate District 33, which is comprised of House Districts 65 and 66.

The Republican 33rd District Legislative Committee will hold interviews of applicants wishing to fill the vacancy in nomination resulting from Senator Karen McConnaughay’s withdrawal as a candidate at the General Election to be held Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

Prospective candidates should submit resumes, a current photograph and a letter of recommendation to by 7:00 P.M. Central Daylight Time on Friday, June 15, 2018. The Committee will consider all applications and offer in – person interviews to the most qualified.

All those who apply must be 21 years of age, and have been a resident of the 33rd Senate District for at least two years. An applicant must also meet all other qualifications as prescribed by the Constitution of the State of Illinois.

The Legislative Committee consists of the County Republican Chairmen in the 33rd Senate District: Kane County GOP Chairman Kenneth Shepro and McHenry County GOP Chairwoman Diane Evertsen.

The Committee decision is based on weighted votes of the two members based upon votes cast in the two counties in the March primary.

Kane County has the majority of such votes.

However, should State Rep. Allen Skillicorn be selected, that would open up his seat to a similar process in which McHenry County’s Chairman would have the most votes.

Questions or inquiries may be directed to Kane County GOP Chairman Shepro at (708) 471-4630.
