Will Algonquin Township Trustee David Chapman Change His Mind on Holding Referendum to Put Road District Under Township Board?

David Chapman

When Algonquin Township Trustee Rachael Lawrence proposed that the Township Board put a referendum on the ballot this fall to put the Road District under the jurisdiction of the Township Board starting in 2021, she could not get a second to her motion.

Now the deadline has passed to place such a referendum on the fall ballot, but that doesn’t mean that the Township Board could not place such a referendum on the April non-partisan ballot when school board, park board, municipal, junior college board, library board and fire protection district board members are on the ballot.

With the negative comment that Trustee David Chapman made about Road Commissioner Andrew Gasser’s sign labeling the “Northworst” Herald “fake news,” perhaps Chapman will change his mind and support a spring referendum.

  1. Dave, well?

The only thing that is at stake is the entire credibility of the Board.

Although I guess it can’t sink any lower at this point.

  2. At the last meeting where the resolution was offered I spoke in favor of that change.

Maybe if Gasser offered to resign 90 days after a favorable vote, all the trustees would vote to consolidate at this time in history.
