McHenry Police are again warning people that Route 120 will be jammed because the VFW’s Queen of Hearts drawing.
Big money at stake.
Raffle tickets have two parts.
Both have the same number.
In tonight’s raffle, the buyer has one half, while the VFW keeps the other for the drawing.
Last week McHenry County Board Chairman Jack Franks criticized Recorder and candidate for County Clerk Joe Tirio of buying raffle tickets.

Raffle tickets purchased by the McHenry County Recorder’s Office to be used in case of an emergency when regular receipts could not be issued.
From the press coverage, one would have thought that Tirio was buying tickets for the VFW raffle.
He was not.
The raffle tickets were to be used if the computers went down..
In such an emergency the Recorder’s Office would give one half of the ticket to a person filing a document and keep the other half.
Nothing nefarious or wasteful about it at all.
Whatever crooked joe we know about your eight dollar tickets and your SLUSH FUND to buy pencils and folders.
This will not stand!
Route 176 or Route 120?
The Marengo Jackal also went off on Tirio spending $110 (?) for two trips to O’Hare (presumably for the professional conferences which the hyena also whined about).
Do the math: compute the mileage, tolls and parking reimbursement to which Tirio would have been entitled.
It’s quite likely that Tirio saved the county some money.
Worst case scenario, it was a wash.
That’s something that the Marengo Moron has to know, but assumes that we’re too stupid to figure out.
Take a look at what Jacko billed the state for his district office rental and then see who owns the property.
Does anybody ever win that damn thing?
POLICE ALERT: see if the ringleaders in this VFW thing are buying plane tickets for any of these lands!:
