EDGAR A. ARANA SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR PREDATORY CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD AND AGGRAVATED CRIMINAL SEXUAL ABUSE

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 73-year-old Edgar Arana, formerly of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, was sentenced to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of
- Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and
- two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse
pursuant to a negotiated plea in front of the Honorable Judge Sharon Prather on September 10, 2018.
Arana plead guilty to sexually
- assaulting a minor victim who was under 13 years old in September 2016 and
- abusing two additional victims who were under thirteen years old in 2008 and 2011.
Upon release from custody, Arana will have to register as a lifetime sex offender.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Sharyl Eisenstein and Rita Gara.
The case was investigated by Detective Decker of the Lake in the Hills Police Department, as well as the Woodstock Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
Something tells me he won’t be participating in the much-plugged ‘Blue Wave’ this November, although maybe somebody like Acosta will get him an absentee ballot.
