The Chicago Tribune has endorsed State Senator Dan McConchie for re-election.

He was appointed to replace Dan Duffy when Duffy retired early and won the 2016 election for a two-year term.

For first-term Sen. Dan McConchie, R-Hawthorn Woods, the biggest surprise in Springfield has been the control Democratic leaders maintain over their members.

“Even if you’re part of the majority party, you’re still a slave to what leadership expects of you at any given point in time,” he says.

Springfield needs more independent thinkers.

McConchie is one of them.

He helped negotiate a school funding reform bill, even though some in his party rejected it.

He also focused on pension reform legislation that allows workers to buy out of the state government’s system.

Tom Georges

McConchie faces newcomer Tom Georges, a Democrat and retired Army colonel from Mundelein.

Georges believes the state budget cannot be balanced without more revenue (read: higher taxes).

But in this district, residents are taxed out. McConchie is endorsed.

  1. Good! Dan McConchie has a handle on what’s ahead.

Typical Democrat opponent wants to tax more instead of cutting spending and having our Govt live within their means.
