Here’s the Cut 10 logo used in Jack Franks’ campaign.
I was talking to one of the Democrats in my neighborhood yesterday, making a pitch for voting for Carolyn Schofield and Josh Howell for the McHenry County Board.
Putting a Democrat on the Board from our district, I argued, would just be giving Franks another faithful supporter.
What was bad about Franks? he inquired.
I asked him if he remembered what Franks had promised in his campaign.
When he didn’t immediately recall the Franks’ slogan, I said, “Cut Property Taxes 10% NOW.”
Then, I asked what that meant to him.
He pointed to his home and said his tax bill would be cut 10%.

“Was it?” I asked.
He indicated it was not.
I explained that the county’s part of our tax bills was about 10% of the total and that, later in the campaign, to knowledgeable interviewers on newspaper editorial boards, Franks said he was talking about cutting (only) the county tax levy by 10%.
He got all the endorsements, but those who had gotten his “Cut 10” message were duped.
As was intended.
So, Franks got the treat of a four-year term as McHenry County Board Chairman, while the voters got tricked and only got less than 1% (10% of the 10% that county spending makes of the whole real estate tax bill) tax cut.
I don’t know about Howell, but Schofield will definitely be a Franks Follower on the Board.

Why don’t you attack Jack for not cutting federal taxes by 10% or state taxes by 10%, but instead choose to attack him for local taxes?

The logo was the campaign and it was a clear lie.
When caught in the lie Jack did the smart liars move of verbally changing the clear logo’s meaning knowing the average uninformed uninvolved voter won’t pay attention to anything but the easy to remember “Cut 10” theme.
Anyone whining about a political operative exposing the lie Jack told, the most powerful tool to change people’s minds, is trying to protect the moronic liar from exposure.

And, when you really get to the brass tax of it, Franks came in and actually cut taxes not once, but now twice – which you seem to be unable to really acknowledge. That means voters kept $18MM in their collective pockets.
This is a Democrat accomplishing what an all GOP board could not and FRANKS is the problem!??!

Clearly he is a HUGE problem. He instituted term limits… and electronic voting… and transparency measures… and is holding our Regional Superintendent accountable to taxpayers when she clearly does not want to be…. Franks is AWFUL.
He should be like the tax and spend Republicans who, less than 5 years ago, all had pensions, all were taking their turn as chairman getting $75k and all were collectively taking healthcare…..

The slogan was not “Cut 1,” it was “Cut 10.”
The image was a home.
No home’s taxes were cut 10%.
Find me any literature that was distributed during the campaign that said that.
I published every “Cut 10” image I could find and none of them said, “Cut County Taxes 10%.”
So… when Donald Trump says he’s going to cut your taxes, does he mean ALL your taxes?
Or just the taxes that you pay to the federal government?
What about all the candidates running for state legislative offices that say they’re going to cut your taxes.
Does that mean that they’re going to magically force counties and municipalities and school districts to cur your taxes too?

Third paragraph in a July 15, 2016 letter signed by Jack Franks and paid for by the Supporters of Jack D Franks PAC:
“The centerpiece of my election effort is my Cut10 campaign.
The idea is so simple that it just might work.
Every taxing body should cut their levy by 10%.
The reduction in the levy would reduce our property taxes, but we will only see real reductions if all the taxing bodies participate.
I am committed to cutting 10% for every taxing body under the direct or indirect control of the county board and to using my bully pulpit until the other taxing bodies follow suit and also cut 10%.
We can have lower taxes in McHenry County but it will require hard work and a willingness to make some tough decisions as we root our waste and corruption.”
Just try to imagine the hundreds of hours Cal has spent on his psychiatrist’s couch, venting about that mean mean Jack Franks.

To say that Joe Blowhard has an unhealthy obsession with Cal would be an understatement.
Franks advertisement during his campaign CLEARLY stated:
“Cut Property Taxes Now 10%”
Anyone reading the Ad interpreted it as 10 percent of the ENTIRE tax bill for their house would be cut from the next year’s bill. So, if a homeowner paid $10,000 in taxes before reading Franks Ad, then the next tax bill would be reduced to the amount of $9,000 if Franks were elected and then somehow took various actions.
But, the Ad was deceptive and the reader of the Ad was misled.
This is common for Democrats to make huge lies just like the famous lie repeated numerous times by Democrat Barack Obama. He lied to Americans when he told them that they could keep their health insurance plans and doctors if they liked these.

I would respectfully suggest that campaign literature was what people looked at.
The McHenry County Mental Health and Conservation District budgets have not been cut 10%.
And the Cut 10 logo was on every campaign piece I saw.

I would respectfully suggest that MarK posted Franks as saying, “I am committed to cutting 10% for every taxing body under the direct or indirect control of the county board and to using my bully pulpit until the other taxing bodies follow suit and also cut 10%.”
Let’s break that down for slow people like Cal:
First Part – Franks committed to cutting taxes under the county 10%.
Second part – Franks committed to bullying taxing districts to cut taxes 10%.
First part is complete. Second part is pending.

He didn’t cut taxes, either did the county board. They only abated them.
Bear in mind also that the county government has literally dozens of sources of tax revenues beside property taxes so it is possible to play endless shell games moving money around while lowering the property tax, either temporarily or permanently.
I agree with the resident liberals who are commenting. I always thought Franks’ message was quite clear, and his website, at least at one time and in one location, specifically said it was the county portion.
Besides for that, don’t you think constantly attacking Franks is a bad thing? He’s not even up for election. You know about the boy who cried wolf? People get burned out. They’ll become desensitized to the information and eventually they will sympathize with who you attack.
Plus, the attacks are weak. “It’s only an abatement.” Tell that to someone who got tax relief after years of Republicans RAISING taxes. Say that Franks is “just another socialist liberal Democrat” to to the actual progressives who are crying about Franks’ “attack on schools” and are considering primarying him. Or the “it’s not a BIG ENOUGH tax cut.” Yeah, that’s not too compelling. This stuff is just really weak and dumb.
And you’ll see how well it works in Illinois with all these attacks on Madigan. We’ve heard it for years through these Rauner-funded attacks. My prediction is that Democrats win every single constitutional (statewide) office, plus keep their supermajority in the senate, and gain a supermajority in the house, and pick up at least one seat in congress (and Republicans will be lucky if that’s all). (They are not providing an alternative either, see the other Alinsky rule about providing an alternative!)
But I guess we’ll find out in a few days…
