GOP Seeking McHenry County Board Vacancy Applicants for District 3
Mike Walkup
McHenry County, Ill. – McHenry County is seeking qualified candidates to apply to succeed County Board member Michael Walkup, who resigned from office effective Dec. 1, 2018.
The McHenry County Board Chairman shall fill the vacancy with the County Board’s advice and consent. Candidates must be
- age 18 or older
- registered to vote in McHenry County,
- a Republican, and
- live in County Board District 3, which covers all of Nunda Township, McHenry Township precincts 2, 9, 20, 22, 25, 28 and 30, and Algonquin Township precincts 21, 29, 49, 50 and 67.
The appointee will serve through the expiration of the term, Dec. 1, 2020.
The County Board is responsible for establishing the budgets of county government and dependent agencies, and adopting ordinances and rules pertaining to the management and business of county departments.
To apply, candidates should email a resume and cover letter detailing their interest to Diane Evertsen by Friday, Jan. 18, 2019.
Applicants will be required to complete, under oath, a Statement of Economic Interests and Conflict of Interest form.

By law, McHenry County Board Chairman Jack Franks makes an appointment of someone meeting the above requirements, but does not have to accept the recommendation of the GOP.
Franks requires the completion of a detailed application, one which would provide opposing candidates significant information.
Walkup walked out.
Wise.
Illinois is doomed.
I’m cutting out the middle man and going right to Jack for this apprenticeship.

This position was already offered to GottJoe but he turned it down while his judicial application was pending.
He would probably be a consensus choice should he decide he wants to sit on the County Board while waiting for the next judicial seat to open up.
The real estate taxes where I am living now are only about 40% of what they would be in Illinois and the state budget is balanced.

People whine about Walkup, but he was 10,000x better than the ‘jackal.’
I was DELIGHTED when he beat the crook, Joey G. Saddened to hear he left our dying county.
