And here’s the evidence:

In other news,

  • electricity off for a lot of McHenry residents, but despite so-called “smart meters,” Police ask residents “to report your outage directly to Comed for their accurate tracking.” Go figure.
  • In McHenry, the following will be closed for another 2-3 hours at this time.
    – East Bound Il route 120 at Crystal Lake rd
    – West Bound Route 120 at Borden S
  • the Walkup Avenue railroad crossing is being repaired
  • garbage pick-up won’t happen in a couple of municipalities

Today is reminding me of January 20, 1982, when I was running for State Comptroller.

I had an event in Peoria and was driving back to Woodstock at night.

The radio was reporting 154 degree wind chill temperatures.

If the heater in my little red 1977 Honda Civic (Civics were really small back then) was working, I couldn’t feel it.

Then, the four-cylinder engine started sputtering.

The car slowed to 30-35 MPH north of Huntley, pretty much the middle of nowhere.

You can bet I was praying that I would make it home to Madison Street and was quite relieved when I did.

What to look forward to:

  1. Will be interesting to hear from people that global warming/climate change is now very severe and we must take immediate steps to do various things. Things we have heard before from them such as an emergency goal to eliminate ICE (internal combustion engines) in 5 years, stop burning fossil fuels, ride bicycles, walk, more mass transportation, downsize all mcmansions and other houses to no more than 1000 square feet, progressive extra real estate taxes on square footage of all houses more than 1000 square feet, progressive taxes by weight on all non-commercial road vehicles to encourage buying and use of compact and sub-compact low weight fuel efficient vehicles such as used in Europe, etc.

  2. Some of the global warming crowd is trying to claim that this cold weather is evidence of made made climate change.

If you google “Solar Minima”, you will find tons of articles about how the lack of sunspot activity can cause very cold weather.

We are currently in a period of very low sunspot activity.

A lot of real scientists have been warning us for a while that this winter could be really nasty.

  3. Should help you to enjoy even more, your great mid-September to late mid-September weather.

  4. There is no need to worry about “Climate Change” as we will all
    be dead in 12 years.

This is alarming yet factual info from the genius bartender, climatologist and member of Congress, AOC.

Feeling triggered yet, Joey Blowhard ?

  5. Today, Anchorage is 33 and Fairbanks is 7. You are mistaking local weather for global climate.

  6. Solar activity:

Want to become a real weather alarmist? Today, this is posted:

"SOLAR WIND, INCOMING: During solar minimum, long-lasting holes open in the sun's atmosphere, releasing streams of solar wind into space. One of those holes is facing Earth now, and it's a big one:"

  7. This is nothing.

I lived in Duluth for a year where summer is July 4th, 5th, and 6th.

  8. Out of towner is correct, once again.

My eccentric brother-in-law bragged over 3 weeks ago that we’d be having this preposterous weather ….. and now he’s bragging about a 125:1 bet he booked through the Ladbroke’s (UK) specialty betting site.

    He put up $3000.

They booked the bet, and probably thought he was a fool. (He only wanted to put up $1000, but the Brit who handled the bet rubbed him the wrong way when he wouldn’t give him 400:1 odds)

    Do the math.

He’s done these kind of bets before, but never for this much dough.

    Global warming!

    Don’t make me laugh.

  9. Martin may be on to something.

The dinosaurs refused to drive their oversized vehicles and like us confused local weather for the impending climate change.

On serious note Funny how todays brainiacs of pseudo science conveniently think that taxing the middle class while will stop the next heat wave I mean ice age

I mean…..never mind just pay up, and let only our elites consume carbon.

    The rest can eat cake.

  10. Global warming impacts the jet streams and the northern jet stream was disrupted enough to let the latest cold air spill down.

It really does not matter who is right or wrong in the man-made global climate impact discussion.

The earth has experienced a number of extinction level events (98%+ extinctions) and the earth has come through each one of them in very good shape.

Human’s will go the way of the dinosaur arguing the impact we had on the climate, and the earth will just start over.

The earth will clean the air, water, dispose of the plastic problem (give or take 100K years) and start over when new species.
