Algonquin Man Gets 18 Years on Sex Charges

A press release from the McHenry County State’s Attorney:

ROBERT J. LIBRICZ SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR PREDATORY CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announced that 58-year-old Robert J. Libricz of Algonquin, Illinois, was sentenced to 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Judge [James] Cowlin.

He was sentenced to five years on

  • one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse

12 years on

  • one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault

12 years on

  • one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault, and

18 years on an

  • additional count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.

He was also sentenced to five and eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on two counts of Criminal Sexual Assault.

Due to existing legislation at the time of the offenses, Libricz will serve out the sentences concurrently.

Between 1989 and 1998, the defendant committed multiple acts of sexual penetration and abuse against a female minor child during a time in which the child was under 13 and under 18 years of age

Upon release from custody, Libricz will have to register as a lifetime sex offender.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Victor Escarcida and Sharyl Eisenstein.

The case investigation was led by Sgt. Michelle Asplund of the McHenry County Sheriff’s
Department.
