From the Huntley Police Department:
On February 27, 2019 at approximately 8:45 am the Huntley Police Department was advised of a stolen vehicle from Crystal Lake was seen driving westbound on Reed Road approaching IL Route 47 that fled from a Lake in the Hills traffic stop.
The vehicle was not able to be located and was believed to have left the area.
At approximately 9:00 am the same vehicle was reported to have struck a light pole at Chetwood Drive and Boudreaux Drive.
A male suspect was seen exiting the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
A witness followed the vehicle to the area of the Buckingham Drive and a witnessed the vehicle enter a residential garage.
An attempt to make contact with the resident occupants was unsuccessful and they refused to exit the home.
A search warrant was sought to enter the home.
The area schools were informed of the situation and placed the Reed Road Campus and Learning Tree on lockdown as a precaution.
While awaiting the search warrant a handgun was later found in the area of the crash location.
Upon executing the search warrant, the stolen vehicle was recovered and two subjects were taken into custody.
After a thorough search of the impacted areas the area schools were advised of the updated status, at which time lockdowns were lifted.
The incident is currently under further investigation.
