Congresswoman Lauren Underwood, according to the latest rankings from the UCLA Voteview Project, now ranked as the 2nd most liberal of the House freshmen in the 116th Congress.
The rankings, with data through the end of September, has Underwood the 16th most liberal member of all of Congress.
Voteview is a research project of UCLA’s Social Sciences Division of the Political Science Department. The rankings use a metric known Dynamic Weighted Nominal Three-step Estimation, or DW-NOMINATE.
Underwood was knocked out of the #1 ranking among House freshmen after the month of July, when Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (D, TX) took over the top spot. After September votes, Garcia is now the #1 overall liberal, not only among freshmen, but among all members of Congress.
Congressman Sean Casten ranked #26 in the latest ranking, which is up from #37 from the June 25 Voteview data.

Data through 9/27/19

37th to 26th Liberal Ranking
Earlier this year, the Chicago Tribune on May 29 and The Washington Post on July 11, used Voteview data to demonstrate how Underwood’s liberal voting record is out of sync with her 14th congressional district constituency. The Washington Post cross referenced Underwood’s data with district demographic data from Cook Political Report. The demographic cross reference was not done with the latest numbers.
As for the members of the Squad, and why only one of the four members ranked in the top 25 at #25, it is due to the many protest voters Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley have cast against the Democratic House leadership. As a result, these known leftists are seen as “moderate” in the data.
Here is extended metrics for Underwood, Casten and the Squad members:

I could have told you that!
True, but always much better to have it quantified.
One must wonder, for Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia to do what she did to raise her score must have been something.
If there is a fifth member of the Squad, she is it.
