Skillicorn Focuses on Needed Ethics Legislation

From State Rep. Allen Skillicorn:

Rep. Skillicorn Files Three Bills to Address Legislator-Lobbyist Revolving Door Schemes

Crystal Lake…State Representative Allen Skillicorn (R- Crystal Lake) filed three bills this week aimed at rooting out what he calls ‘rampant corruption’ under the Statehouse dome.

Skillicorn says House Bills 3956, 3957, and 3958 are common sense reforms to Illinois’ ethics laws in order to restore confidence in the General Assembly.

“This week I filed three bills that will strengthen our state’s lax ethics laws,” Skillicorn said.

“This is a tough ethics package that would

  • disallow lawmakers from working as property tax appeals attorneys while in office, and
  • restrict retired lawmakers and their spouse and immediate family living under their roof from engaging the General Assembly as a lobbyist for a period of five years.”

“I came to this office to fight for the taxpayers of Illinois that have spent decades getting ripped off by corrupt insiders, and I have been a fervent watchdog calling out this corruption for years.

“It sickens me to hear of yet another Democratic state legislator in leadership being indicted on bribing a sitting State Senator to advance his own Chicago lobbying firms efforts.”

“I have filed dozens of consumer protection, anti-corruption, and common sense fiscal reforms that have been supported by the House Republican Caucus, however the Democratic Majority will not even allow these bills out of committee and onto the floor for a discussion,” said Rep. Skillicorn.

“My hope today is to gain bi-partisan support on these three simple, common sense ethics reform bills.

“We must restore confidence in the General Assembly and give the people of Illinois a State Government they can trust and respect.

“We have passed every tax imaginable in this State yet we still rack up annual budget deficits and owe $200+ billion dollars in debt to our pension systems.

“It is time to tell Speaker Madigan and his corrupt cronies that we are done picking up the tab for their corruption,” said Rep. Skillicorn.

  1. Skillicorn filing legislation?

As if Skillicorn has a record getting his legislation passed let alone to become law.

Stop blaming the Democrats for your shortcomings in Springfield and look in the mirror.

And as far as ethics reform, get the Senate reforms passed.

I doubt yours are going anywhere.

  2. Now your talking Tax payer lingo…. kudos for this but good luck trying to get it passed…

  3. Save Our State and get a 1% hard cap on property taxes before it’s too late, Rep. Skillicorn.

Now that would legislation we can all get behind.

  4. I have a question for Rep Skillicorn. Why did he endorse Jim Oberweis for Congress?

Oberweis SUPPORTS his criminal democrat indicted friend Marty Sandoval, and publicly praised the racketeer last summer for a “great job” being the architect of the corrupt gas tax increase that Oberweis had ZERO political courage to vote against (yes … voting no would have offered no conflict of interest with Oberweis and his business dealings.)

Skillicorn wants to crack down on corruption… he should start by not endorsing sellout RINOs like Oberweis (who was friends with pedophile Denny Hastert and who was endorsed by Hastert too in prior failed congressional bids.)

Oberweis also has voted for Democrats’ numerous spending increases too in Illinois.

Oberweis has supported the corruption in Illinois by either supporting the corruptocrat themselves (Sandoval) or by doing diddly squat about it while he sits in the Illinois senate seat. We never saw Oberweis rail against corruption in Illinois ever.

    Want proof?

See below oberweis’ comments on Sandoval after they passed the gas tax scam (that RINO Sue Rezin (who lives outside of IL14th district she is running for Congress in) also voted for!!!!)

Note: Rezin also is another phony Republican who voted for taking our tax money to support building the Obama library.

    * On June 2nd, Sen. Jim Oberweis (R-Sugar Grove) rose to speak on Sen. Martin Sandoval’s SB1939, the bill which raised several taxes and fees to fund the horizontal infrastructure bill…

First of all, I would like to thank my good friend Sen. Sandoval. The guy put in incredible amounts of time. I assume that most of you know that. Traveling all over the state to meet with people to discuss needs and lining up support for this, as did our Sen. DeWitte on this side of the aisle.

Having said that, I’m in a position where I believe I need to vote ‘Present’ because of a potential conflict. But, again, thank you to the two of you, especially Sen. Sandoval, for putting in the time and making that happen. Thanks. -Jim Oberweis
