IL 6: Ives Reports Finances

From congressional condidate Jeanne Ives:

Ives Galvanizes the Grassroots, Q4 Filing Shows

January 31, 2020 – Jeanne Ives, a Republican Candidate for Congress, filed her fourth quarter financial report this morning.

The filing shows her total dollars raised in Q4 came to $262,598.36. With $243,748.36 of that raised from individual donors.

Particularly notable in Ives’ filing is that 42% of dollars raised from individuals in Q4 are unitemized, which means the donor has given less than $200 in the cycle so far.

Small dollar donors account for $103,095.36 of the $243,748.23 raised from individual donors.

By contrast, Ives’ opponent Sean Casten reported only 22% of his total raised from small dollar donations raised in the third fiscal quarter

This is an important sign of strong support from the grassroots, as those individual small donors account for 93% of all donors in Q4.

Overall for this primary election cycle, 89% of donors have been small dollar donors.

“As Sean Casten panders to lobbyists, champagne socialists and the political class, working Americans are chipping into beat back the most unreasonable, unserious Congress in history,” said Ives.

“What we are proving – each and every day – is that Americans are ready and willing to get behind a campaign that stands up for them and takes on a powerful political class and the special interests that fund their campaigns.

“You build a grassroots movement one person at a time – every one of those donations is important to us. And that’s exactly why we are going to win.”

  1. So she is well behind Casten again.

And has quite a drop off from her first quarter in.

It doesn’t matter where the money is coming from what matters is how much you have.

I noticed she didn’t mention her cash on hand, and it doesn’t look like she has actually filed with the FEC yet so that will be an interesting number to know.

If her burn rate was anything like the Q3 then that’s not good for her.

A lot of her Q3 filing were from max out donors so she won’t be able to hit them back up after the primary.

  2. Just saw the other post that says she spent $177,000….just WOW what is she spending that money on this early, Casten hasn’t even gone after her yet and is sitting on a truckload of cash.

She is going to get swamped.

How does she expect to run ads.

She better pray for some outside help.

Casten has that stupid dumb smirk he has on his face right now with this news.

  3. Yeah, I agree with FLamont this is bad for Republicans no matter how you cut it.

Even on your own terms of comparing percentages coming specifically from small donors, 22 percent of 1 or 2 million gives you more than half of 300 k, so Casten is still getting a higher dollar amount from small donors than Ives if I read this right.

The sad thing for Republicans is that Ives isn’t even doing a bad job of raising money — they’re just that far gone.

No, if you want to see someone who has alarming fundraising numbers, look at Marter.

His third quarter was low energy!

I wonder if he fared any better this time around.

  4. FLamont, your Casten is a slimy fellow to be sure. You back him ardentlt. What does that make you?

    excerpt:

Casten, challenged to defend some of the harsh rhetoric he has used in his campaign, and some of the controversial figures he has embraced, refused to dissociate himself from Savage.

“The person I embraced — and I will stand to this day — is Dan Savage, who has been a voice for the LGBT community, and particularly for the It Gets Better project, of teens who were considering suicide.”

Savage, a talented sex advice columnist, founded the “It Gets Better” organization to help gay and lesbian teenagers overcome bullying by peers.

Ironically, Savage then became a bully himself, publicly shaming Christian teenagers at a high school journalism conference in April 2012, abusing his position at the podium to mock their beliefs.

In a video of the event (below), Savage trashed the Bible as “bullshit”:

The Bible — we’ll just talk about the Bible for a second. People often point out that they can’t help with the anti-gay bulling, because it says right there in Leviticus, it says right there in Timothy, it says right there in Romans, that being gay is wrong. We can learn to ignore the bullshit in the Bible about gay people the same way we have learned to ignore the bullshit in the Bible about shellfish, about slavery, about dinner, about farming, about menstruation, about virginity, about masturbation — we ignore bullshit in the Bible about all sorts of things.

Some students cheered, but others walked out in protest. Savage later taunted those who left: “So you can tell the Bible guys in the hall that they can come back now, because I’m done beating up the Bible.”

He went on to call the students “pansy-ass” for protesting, then offered a fake “apology” for hurting anyone’s feelings, adding, “I have a right to defend myself and to point out the hypocrisy of people who justify anti-gay bigotry by pointing to the Bible and insisting we must live by the code of Leviticus on this one issue, and no other.”

  5. So Casten is bought and paid for by others/outsiders and Ives funds come from individuals in her District…

Casten like Underwood does not represent the vast majority of his constituency–

he represents lobbyists, PACs, Soros and other “seat buyers” outside of here, like how he, an unknown at the time got HUGE money to win this seat from Roskam—

a true phony, doing the bidding of those groups.

Obama-ite through and through—Big New Green Deal guy , anti gun, and a baby killer from way back.

Hoping Ms Ives gets some more outside funding to compete on equal footing with bought and sold boy.

  6. Thanks for the reminder about Casten love for Dan Savage—how frightening.

Let me guess his next endorsement will come from Dan Savage wannabe and Chicago Progressive Talk Radio host, Hal Sparks—cut from the same anti everything you were taught to believe cloth as bully Savage.

Absolute haters these two–Fake tough guys too, loud mouths that puke all over tradition, Christians Beliefs, and 9 month old babies.

    Casten can have them both.

I just dont know many people in this area that are Savage, Sparks or Casten followers.

Big money pays for that guy.

  7. Casten needs to be removed.

Like a urine stain on an American flag.
