AFTER Tax Bills Come Out, Franks Again Says Others Should Cut Their Tax Take

Jack Franks started his campaign for McHenry County Board Chairman by promising to “Cut 10.”

Take a look at the sticker on the water bottles he gave away at his Crystal Lake South High School Town Hall Meeting:

Bottles of water with Lying Jack Franks “Cut 10” sticker affixed.

The message does not seem ambiguous.

If you are a homeowner, your tax bill would be cut 10% if Jack Franks were elected County Board Chairman.

“NOW,” a red letter word, emphasized.

It was not until Franks reached newspaper editorial boards that he changes his tune and said he was only promising to cut the county portion of the real state tax bill by 10%.

If that was what he wanted voters to believe, his campaign image would have aid “Cut 1,” because cutting ten percent of the county’s real estate tax bill equates to 1% of one’s total tax bill.

Now, Franks tells the Northwest Herald, “he thinks it’s time that other taxing bodies in the county try to reduce their burden on taxpayers as well.”

Remember when he convened school board presidents and superintendents from about half of the county’s school districts in a secret meeting (not fulfilling his transparency campaign promise).

That was two years ago.

Two tax bills ago.

Seems Franks was not very persuasive.

AFTER Tax Bills Come Out, Franks Again Says Others Should Cut Their Tax Take — 10 Comments

  1. Property Taxes Up 7%, 500+ bucks this most recent Tax Bill…thanks a lot.

Franks says its every other Taxing Agency’s fault.

Who cares anymore whose fault it is, just seems a way of life now to live here.

Unemployment growth impacts and property values about to plunge, good luck keeping it a way of life.

  2. But, but, but if Jack Franks cuts his own budget as Chairman, he might have to lay off his personal patronage employee Kevin Craver, former editor of the Jack Franks/Northwest Herald…

  3. I live in Huntley.

I’ve lived in my house for over 20 years.

We have made no changes to our property, not one!

  4. Robert Williams – people are finally realizing that a 10% cut of the tax levy does not constitute a 10% cut on their taxes, as Franks led them to believe.

And I believe Kevin Craver is no longer employed.

He hasn’t been at the office for three months. Rumor has it that the department of transportation let him go at the beginning of there year.

Allegedly, he was rarely there and when he was, didn’t do crap except take a few pictures.

  5. My bill went up by $224.20. A Litle here, a little there. The only things that went down were the school district 155 pension by $3.27 and the Algonquin TWP RD & BR by $.71. Everything else continued to rise. After paying taxes on this place for forty-six years, I think it’s about time to call it paid in full! This is some racket the government has going. They are criminals. They steal your money and act like you are getting something in return for their Ponzi scheme. Why am I paying for schools that are closed? Parks that are closed? Sidewalks that I’m not supposed to use? Municipalities that are not there? They can’t have it both ways. Yet here they are with their hands out again.

  6. My property taxes went up 23% ($2240) for no apparent reason.

Yup, I’m getting ready to shove off this darkening turd pile and head south!

  7. Mine went up 12%.

But there were no improvements or anything to account for it.
