Five people ran for tiny Burton Township’s Board.
The four elected follow:
- Cindy May – 239
- Eileen Miller – 214
- Lee Borresen – 181
- Dawne Stanton – 172
Missing out in this public service was Jeremy Retek with 164 votes, eight votes short.
Stanton was endorsed by local Democrats.
So this part of McSweeney’s bill which passed a few years ago:
(605 ILCS 5/6-140 new)
Sec. 6-140. Abolishing a road district within Lake County
or McHenry County with less than 15 miles of roads. Any
township in Lake County or McHenry County shall abolish a road district of that township if the roads of the road district are less than 15 centerline miles in length, as determined by the county engineer or county superintendent of highways.
Did that abolish ANY townships in McHenry or Lake County?

I meant any township road districts, but you get the point.
Burton still has their road district and they’re tiny, so did McSweeney’s bill get rid of any road districts?
3 Road Districts abolished in Lake County.
