McHenry Shed & Home Burns

From the McHenry Township Fire Protection District:

Structure Fire

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was dispatched to a structure fire today at 7:52 pm located in the 2900 block of North Shorewood Dr in unincorporated McHenry.

When fire crews arrived they observed a large volume of fire coming from a detached shed that had also caught the residence on fire.

Fire crews quickly began extinguishing the fire while simultaneously searching the inside of the residence for occupants.

The residence was found to be unoccupied.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes.

There were no injuries.

A damage estimate is not available at this time but the shed and all of its contents was a complete loss.

The residence sustained exterior damage.

As a result of the electric and gas meters being damaged the utilities had to be shut off.

Currently the residence is not habitable until the utilities
are restored.

There are no fire hydrants in this area.

Automatic aid was received from Fox Lake Fire and Spring Grove Fire.
The cause of the fire is not know at this time.

The fire is being investigated by the McHenry Township Fire Protection District fire investigators but it does not appear to be suspicious in
nature.
