In no time the crudity and soullessness of the place catches up with you. They usually start night shift, with zero seniority.
The night ‘hoots’ and screams; they’re really something.
Many women quit early on.
They can’t take the disgusting nature of their charges — and of course their co-workers — which really aren’t much better.
Jails and prisons aren’t places for normal people.

And probably has student loans lasting a quarter of a lifetime, jail guard may have just a GED.
