Algonquin Holding Emergency Special Meeting on Sunday at 12:30, the Purpose Of Which Is To Increase Taxes on Slot Machine Players

From the Village of Algonquin:

“The purpose of the special and emergency meeting is to address the Illinois General Assembly’s HB3136 which passed through both houses on Thursday, October 28, 2021 and was further amended on Thursday, October 28, 2021 to preempt home rule powers if an ordinance imposing an amusement tax on persons who participate in the playing of video gaming terminals was not in place before November 1, 2021.

Slot machines.

“The special and emergency meeting is to consider an ordinance imposing a tax upon the amusement of playing a video gaming terminal (a Push Tax) within the Village.”

The accompanying memo, estimates the increase in taxes as follows:

The tax as proposed would impose a penny-per-play on video gaming terminals. For example, if a player makes 100 wagers, the push tax would be one dollar ($1.00). The dollar amount played does not factor into the push tax.

Revenue Estimates

Video Gaming Terminals offer many options for wagering activity which make estimating revenue from this tax challenging. While we do have access to data on total dollars wagered, we do not know the number of wagers or the average amount per wager. Conservatively, it would be reasonable to a project an estimated range of $150,000 to $400,000 annually.

Our appreciation to the people of the Algonquin Township Republican organization tonight.

I just offered folks a sneak peek of info related with the IL 2020 election data.

The plan is exposing, in detail, the extensive anomalies in each high populous counties of the state in the 2020 election because we need an audit.

This crooked state spends $560 million of our tax money per year on political corruption.

We want and are owed an audit!

Tell your State elected Reps and Senators that instead of chanting about what a perfect election this was, how about they be transparent and show us the damn receipts!

  2. As we all know, the Beast must be fed at any cost to the taxpaying citizen.

  3. Great they are only going to charge a penny per spin. I don’t play those stupid vacuum cleaners but know people that gladly and freely giving up their money to the state and local municipalities. They always tell you how much they won but never how much they lost to hit that win.

I prefer good ole Craps myself. At least I know a machine is not cheating me on the back end. There I go again using cheat and machine in the same sentence.

  4. 12:30 not a good time to meet.

    Should be later.

Bears play San Francisco at noon on Sunday.

    Is Algonquin anti-Bear?

    Pro Wisconsin Peckers?

  5. bred my sympathies to you.

Had you watched the game last night you would have watched the winner of the NFC Central knock the AZ Cardinals from their perch.

Luckily there was no overtime even though AZ looked like crap.

  6. Who watches pro football any more?

    I quit long ago.

Overpaid baboons are no longer important in my life.

  8. I must be slipping away quickly..

I used to be able to understand things and figure them out right away, but this one has me really confused..

do the want to tax the person who plays the slot machine?

no one could be that stupid….

they make about 13,000 in taxes per month from the slots…

    this is found money..

    money they never had before

$13,000 just dumped on the mayors desk each and every month, so what is happening with that ……

more taxes is just more money that will be stolen by the idiots in office

  9. Perhaps the players are the foolish ones.

It will be the license holders who will make less money.

  10. Yes, Cal, they are foolish and greedy.

They deserve to be separated from their money.

This state is sinking rather quickly.
