State’s Attorney Hires Kathleen Laughlin

KATHLEEN LAUGHLIN JOINS THE CRIMINAL DIVISION OF THE MCHENRY COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, is pleased to announce that Kathleen Laughlin joined our office on Monday, November 29, 2021, as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Criminal Division.

Kathy has nearly 11 years of experience as a prosecutor.

Most recently, she spent the last six years as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office where she prosecuted cases in Traffic/Misdemeanor, Domestic Violence, and was recently promoted to General Felony.

Prior to that she worked in Shakopee, Minnesota, as a Scott County Attorney and in Phoenix, Arizona, as a Deputy County Attorney.

Kathy is also familiar with McHenry County as she was previously employed with the Prime Law Group (Woodstock) and the Law Offices of Jeanne Miller (McHenry).

She earned her Juris Doctor from Chicago Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology in May of 2003, receiving a certificate in Environmental and Energy Law.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Science from University of Illinois in May of 2000.
