Update: Man Shot Dead, Woman Wounded at Port Barrington Domestic Violence Call

From the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department:

OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN PORT BARRINGTON

On Tuesday, January 11, at approximately 1:22 a.m. two McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies were involved in an officer-involved shooting in the 200 block of Manchester Lane in Port Barrington.

A female victim, shot by the suspect, was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Both deputies were uninjured.

The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene.

Deputies involved have 1 year and 5.5 years of service at McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. In accordance with department policy, both deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation by an external entity.

McHenry County Major Investigation Assistance Team (MIAT) will be handling the investigation.

MCSO Critical Incident Update

On Tuesday, January 11, at approximately 1:22 a.m. deputies responded to a call for domestic violence in the 200 block of Manchester Lane in Port Barrington.

Upon their arrival, the suspect opened fire on the deputies and an adult female on scene.

Deputies returned fire, striking the suspect.

The female sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Advocate Condell Hospital. The suspect was pronounced dead on scene.

This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the general public.  

This incident will be investigated by the Major Investigation Assistance Team (MIAT).
