From the desk of John Lopez: I want to thank the commenters, particularly “CLM” for turning this article into the “Sunday Funnies”. I laughed out loud reading the opposing views, especially the one trying to set up the candidacy of Catalina Lauf, and putting Lauf in the company of Kim Klacik, former MD-07 Republican nominee and the president of her Red Rennaissance PAC.
BTW, a belated Happy Birthday to Ms. Klacik, who turned 40 last Wednesday.
To be very clear, I wrote this article this morning, and this entire article was under a “From the desk of John Lopez” label, meaning it was opinion, pointing out the company Lauf has chosen to keep, particularly Florida-based hired gun Alex Bruesewitz.
As for Klacik, that is someone Lauf keeps company with too, though she has published nothing on social media since this group shot at Mar-a-Lago last April, tweeted by Klacik:
Commenters, including differences of opinions are always welcome and encouraged to express their views. I’m a roll-with-the-punches-guy and today’s comments made me laugh out loud while I was waiting at the pharmacy window drive-thru after church.
The whole truth has been coming out about Lauf for the past several months, and Lauf refused to answer questions on many subjects going back to August. Lauf and her campaign have been treated fairly and honestly, but Lauf chose to project herself on people asking critical questions and accused us of printing lies.
No, McHenry County Blog publishes the truth and will continue to write the truth through discernment.
The truth about Lauf, and frankly any candidate, will come out, and as the IL-11 Republican primary field will continue to grow, with the addition of Cassandra Tanner Miller last week and with at least one Candidate X, maybe more, in the coming week, ALL will be evaluated with discernment.
From the desk of John Lopez: I don’t agree with a lot of Congressman Adam Kinzinger’s (R, Channahon) opinions nowadays, but the first part of his tweet, he’s right.
Alex Bruesewitz, who is/was an adviser to Catalina Lauf (R, Woodstock) during 2021, tweeted a meme with Kinzinger’s face.
In my honest opinion, Kinzinger could have exercised discretion and NOT responded to Bruesewitz’s childish tweet where the Lauf adviser acting his Gen Z age.
Given Congressman Matt Gaetz (R, FL-01) quote tweeted a Bruesewitz tweet including Lauf’s name among others this weekend, some may think Bruesewitz’s attacks is what Lauf and certain Republicans are running on, becoming cheap imitations of Donald Trump’s aggressive approach to politics.
At least Trump and some of the people Bruesewitz tweeted about have substance let alone life experiences to run on.
Lauf continues to show all, she does not, and keeping ties to a guy like Bruesewitz and his vulgar tweets more proof she’s not ready for any elected office, let alone, Congress.
As I’ve said before, there’s only one Donald Trump, and not even the former President’s sons can imitate him effectively.
In the meantime for IL-11 Republican primary voters, Cassandra Tanner Miller (R, Gilberts) will be formally launching her campaign soon, along with Candidate X2 this coming week.
Cal, obviously you have something against Catalina Lauf.
That’s fine – just admit it.
However, to suggest she’s “not up for the job” or “too inexperienced” or “not ready for any elected office” are all arguments that are patently false and actually a fraudulent argument.
Let’s analyze the success, aptitude, and results of the people who you praise as “worthy of elected office” – the actual office holders in today’s political environment: They are TOTAL FAILURES, THEY ARE LIARS, THEY ARE FRAUDS, THEY ARE DESTROYING OUR NATION.
Never before has America had more tax revenue. Never before have we had greater debt.
Criticize Lauf, Trump, Klacik all you want – they are MUCH more likely to have success and stand firm to the principles that make our country great than the loser “experienced” GOP members you praise.

So, when is Catalina’s next speaking engagement where the public can listen to her positions, accomplishments and ask her questions?
This Kinzinger guy stupidly and recklessly supported the Democrats’ wretched, evil, stupid impeachment efforts. Don’t understand why this guy has not been kicked out of the Republican Party. Kinzinger is really a Democrat by virtue of what he has said and supported. Why would any voters in his district support him?
bred winner, I have no idea when Catalina Lauf’s next speaking engagement will be, or any activity. We’re over 2/3 through January, and no known public appearances or even media interviews, and no known petition drive/parties for volunteers. I’m curious when our friends begin sharing pics from this past weekend’s right-to-life events if they’ll have pics of Lauf in attendance, gathering petition signatures and/or taking questions.
It is known Lauf’s friend, Anna Paulina Luna’s father passed away this month, so that may be part of an explanation why Lauf has been silent, and not holding in-person events this month due to her being out-of-state for Mr. Meyerhofer’s funeral.
The only candidate who gave a petition update over the weekend was from the new IL-14, with James Marter claiming he’s received over half signatures to be on the ballot a week-and-a-half into petition gathering.
Remembering Lauf had issues with petitions two years ago in IL-14 and had to endure a month of bad press and the expense of a legal challenge, one would think she’ll be doing everything needed to prevent a repeat of December of 2019. We’ll see.
Lauf WILL be having to file her 4th quarter campaign disclosure with the FEC by Monday, 1/31, and through January 22, there has been no press announcement about how her 4th quarter fundraising was, except for the exaggerated claims by Alex Bruesewitz she raised over $1 million within two months. Clearly, her fundraising was not stellar, like Esther Joy King in IL-17, who had over $1 million BANKED at the end of 2021, and issued an announcement last week.
There is an unconfirmed rumor Lauf may be on the short list to be Jesse Sullivan’s running mate, if the Sue Rezin candidacy falls through. That rumor is easily dismissed since the presumption for Sullivan is he needs someone as his lieutenant governor running mate who is more knowledgeable on state issues, not less, and Lauf does not bring that to the table like her 29-year-old Millennial counterpart state Representative Avery Bourne does for Mayor Richard Irvin.
Any positives Lauf would bring to a Sullivan ticket are quickly neutralized by all the negatives Lauf would bring.
But it is still early, and maybe Lauf will be doing some sort of Groundhog’s Day public event in her Woodstock hometown for a public event to kick off 2022. Too bad February 2 falls on a Wednesday.
