Illinois Gubernatorial Candidate Jesse Sullivan Announces “Safe Streets” Plan to Fight Violent Crime

Petersburg, IL – Today Jesse Sullivan, Republican candidate for governor, released his Safe Streets plan to tackle violent crime across the state of Illinois.

Developed in concert with victims’ advocacy groups, law enforcement officials, faith-based initiatives, community organizations, and policy experts, Sullivan’s action plan calls for three immediate steps: 1) enforcing the law, 2) protecting our heroes, and 3) restoring accountability.

“We have had four long years of leaders in Illinois who have tried to defund and demonize our police, prioritizing violent offenders over victims,” Jesse Sullivan said.

“Illinois has had enough. I’ve met too many families who have lost innocent lives because politicians prefer to ignore what’s happening on our streets. It’s time to enforce our laws, defend our police, and hold criminals to account,” he said.

The Sullivan campaign also released a new ad this week, illustrating that the streets of Illinois are more dangerous today than at any point in almost 30 years.

Proposed action steps in the Safe Streets plan include:

  • Filling every officer vacancy across the state, augmenting with National Guard assets and State Police where necessary.
  • Reversing the elimination of cash bail for violent offenders and relaxing the restraints on pretrial / preventive detention.
  • Scaling positive models like DuPage County’s Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigations Team (MERIT).
  • Providing support to local police departments for witness / victim protection programs.

From Gary Rabine:

Statement of Illinois Republican Governor Candidate, Gary Rabine, on Richard Irvin’s law-and-order ads.

Woodstock, Illinois – “Pretend Republican candidate for Governor, Richard Irvin, continues the deception today as he rolls out his commercials claiming to be the law-and-order candidate.

Let’s do a reality check.

Irvin has spent the last twenty years representing criminals and doing his best to keep them out of jail.

His clients aren’t just low-level criminals but rather the full range of bad guys from domestic violence offenders to murderers.

The crime rates during his tenure as Mayor of Aurora, his support for defunding the police, sanctuary cities and BLM, tells us loud and clear that his approach to law and order is right out of the Kim Foxx – JB Pritzker woke playbook, where victims are an afterthought and justice is only served when the jails are empty.”

“But it goes beyond helping criminals beat the rap.

“Last election, ‘Democrat-running-as-a-Republican-Irvin’ fully supported his criminal defense attorney law partner as she ran against a law-and-order Republican in Kane County.

“Yes, the guy seeking the nomination for Governor as a Republican fully and actively supported a far-left criminal defense lawyer over a law-and-order Republican.

“Don’t be fooled by the smoke-screen. Richard Irvin is a left-leaning Democrat and does not support the polices that will end the crime wave in Illinois.

“We do not need another Democrat as Illinois Governor.”

  1. “opponent Jerry Sullivan”

    Jesse, not Jerry.

I believe that Jerry Sullivan is now retired, but was/is an excellent physical therapist in Crystal Lake.

  2. This Jerry Rabine guy really doesn’t want defense lawyers to vote for him, does he?

  3. Sullivan. Isn’t he the VC who got rich in San Fran who is now trying to pawn himself off as a farmer in downstate IL? Darren Bailey has competition now. Two self-proclaimed farmers with the best interests of IL in mind. One of them runs a non-profit school too. Huh. Got it.

Remember, Rabine took PPP money and runs a business that actually employs people so he isn’t qualified to run our state. Nevermind. JB already bought the elections. 30 people per unit in Cook County? Sounds like a great place to harvest votes. They already have it down in WI.

I just identified over 480 people registered to vote in a 16 unit condominium complex in Cook County. Boy is this going to get interesting.

  4. Rino away… they will do anything to get that pension… free cheese… Go Rabine…
