Setup: Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D, San Diego) resigned her seat in the California Assembly right after the first of the year because she took a job leading the California Labor Federation of the AFL-CIO.
Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher was the sponsor of the disastrous Assembly Bill 5 (AB5) which implemented the “ABC test” for worker classification, for tax status, disrupting the lives of millions of 1099 independent contractors including freelancers and gig economy workers when the law was implemented at the start of 2020.
The AB5 was the partial template used by the Democrats in Washington to draft the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, which if passed by the Senate and signed by President Biden, would make the ABC test part of federal labor law for the first time, endangering the livelihoods of 59 million 1099 workers across the country.
Lorena Gonzalez always had the reputation of a foul mouth, and tonight one of my favorite writers for the Red State blog, California-based Editor-at-Large Kira Davis, responded to a Gonzalez tweet, and the responses flew from there, and be aware the language turns crass from Gonzalez, starting with her initial transcribed tweet:
“Why are people surprised when elected leaders curse? They’re real people using real words when they’re frustrated. Who cares? Why did I leave the legislature? So I could say ‘fuck’ without someone clutching their pearls. I only allow my kids to admonish me for ‘foul’ language.”

Please note at the bottom of Rothstein’s artwork, the reference to independent truckers. It’s true part of the supply chain issues impacting the nation can be traced to the fact California-based independent truckers cannot work as independent truckers in the state of California. The ports of Los Angleles, Long Beach, San Diego, Oakland, etc. are clogged with cargo because of AB5 law and its impact to independent truckers.

Kira Davis has you pegged, and “unprofessional” is being nice & generous especially after what you did to independent contractors will not spread across the country, and you will be held accountable, in this life or the next.
