Oswego, IL (March 8, 2022) –James Marter filed his petition package yesterday to be placed on the ballot as a candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 14th District.

“This marks another major step towards Jim’s replacing of Lauren Underwood and bringing representation back to the district,” a campaign spokesperson said.

Jim Marter Files for IL14 Congressional Race with More than Three Times the Signatures Required.

Jim Marter has the most signatures, the best name recognition, the most endorsements and the strongest grassroots team behind him in this Primary.

With his recent installment as the GOP’s State Central Committee Deputy for the 14th District and his role as the current, twice elected Chairman of the Kendall County GOP, he is the frontrunner for the nomination, setting the stage for Representative Underwood to have the biggest challenge of her political career, when she faces Jim Marter in the General Election.Jim is an action-taker, a leader, a public servant, a hard worker and a freedom loving American.

No one will out work him in this race, or in Washington, to bring fiscal sanity, common sense and America-First policies to the forefront.

He’s running because he wants to continue serving his community and his country.

As the Primary approaches, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the people in the district are rallying behind him.

They, like Jim, believe they’re worth representing, even if Lauren Underwood disagrees.

Marter submitted his signature package in Springfield early in the morning on Monday and said he was humbled by the 40+ volunteers who circulated them for him, securing over 1,200 signatures from all seven counties within the district. The 14th District is home to Marter, his wife Jill, three of his four children’s families and his grandchildren.

“This is where I live and have served for over 25 years, as a coach in youth sports programs, as a Scout leader, in my church, civic organizations and in government,” explained Marter.

“I plan to continue my commitment to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, protecting our God-given rights and working to make us a more prosperous and free nation for generations to come.”

  1. Finally a real Republican. McConchie is one of his foes, so I-back Marter

  2. He has some good positions on the issues. I think once he gets to the swamp, he will quickly realize that BlackRock and Vanguard are running every woke corporation in the world and steering the culture off a cliff. The CEO’s of these corporations have sold their souls for the almighty dollar and do not resist wokeism lest they lose their nice big paychecks. He has been trying to get to the swamp for quite a while so that raises concerns in my mind.

McConchie has already honed his skills in Springfield. That would be a RINO pick in my mind but the smarter people on this board will correct that if I am wrong.

    Marter positions
    Economy:
We need free market principles and smart trade policy. The government should not politicize industries, picking winners and threatening competition.

    Election Integrity:
America’s elections need dramatically better protection from foreign and domestic meddling, criminal activity and abuse.

    Immigration:
We need to enforce existing law, secure the border and end harmful practices putting us at risk.

    Medical Tyranny:
We need to stop the medical tyranny being promoted and in some instances forced upon us by government agendas that have nothing to do with science.

    Energy:
We need to return to energy independence which is crucial to national security.

    Foreign Policy:
Congress has a duty to put America first. We need people of integrity representing us, who can set aside their desire for political power and personal enrichment, and advance the interests and security of the United States of America.

    Social Security:
We need to protect Americans who rely on it but reform this program that will fail future generations.

    Life:
I am pro-life. We should not be funding Planned Parenthood and we should protect innocent children in the womb.

    First Amendment:
We need to stop censorship, protect free speech, religious liberty and our other Constitutional rights

    Second Amendment:
I firmly support your Second Amendment rights

    Education:
The federal government has failed with Common Core and the Department of Education. Its role in education must be reduced.

    Healthcare:
The Affordable Care Act gave us less choice and dramatically higher prices. We need to repeal it.

    Taxes:
Working people and families should pay less in taxes. It’s one way to unleash the economy.

    Military:
I support a strong military and the brave men and women who serve. We must honor, care for and improve the lives of our vets.

    Terrorism:
Those who promote terror are the enemies of freedom. They respect strength and are emboldened by weakness.

  3. Just so readers know, McConchie and Marter are not running against each other or even running for the same type of office.

McConchie is seeking reelection in the state senate.

Marter is running for congress. If he wins the primary, he’ll take on Lauren Underwood.

Nobody has stepped up to run in the primary against McConchie so it looks like voters in his district will get stuck with him or else maybe a Democrat.

In Marter’s case, there are some people who don’t care for the fact that he ran for federal office in 2016, 2018, and 2020 and lost badly each time, plus he has always been bad at raising money.

Candidates can be good on issue but show no hope of winning.

Then what good is that? He got outvoted by Kirk ~2-1 in 2016; he got outvoted by Kinzinger ~2-1 in 2018; he finished in 5th place in a 7 way race and I don’t think he carried a single county in 2020.

Some people can watch a guy lose 3 times or 8 times and they’ll keep voting for that person.

Maybe *next * time will be his lucky break.

Maybe if he can win a primary, which he hasn’t been able to do, then he’ll do well in a general election against someone with celebrity status and millions of dollars.

    That’s what some people think.

Oh, but he won his election for library trustee!

If he can win an election for a LIBRARY district, why can’t he win for CONGRESS?

    That’s how some people think.

  4. LOL Correcting you once again set us on the straight and narrow.

I did read about all of his lost races on Ballotpedia but didn’t see the statistics that you provided there.

Just curious if you have opinions on the other horses in the race.
