GOP Supreme Court May Have Two-Man Race: Noverini v. Shanes

By votes of 8-0, the Illinois State Board of Elections has removed three Supreme Court hopefuls–two Republican and one Democra–from the June Primary Election ballot.

The two Republicans are

  • Susan Hutchison of McHenryt County and
  • Mark Curren of Lake County

That leaves John Noverini from Kane County facing off against Daniel Shanes of Lake County.

The Democrat removed from the ballot is Nancy Rotering.

According to Ben Szalinski,

As Szalinski concludes,

Expect appeals.

Both the Hearing Officer and the Board’s General Counsel recommended the candidates be placed on the ballot, but the Board of Elections voted 8-0 to take them off.

The decision can be found here.

GOP Supreme Court May Have Two-Man Race: Noverini v. Shanes — 4 Comments

  1. It seems flawed to base it off either one, but the election handbook isn’t clear about that either.

“Established Party: At least 0.4% (.004) of the number of votes cast in that district for the candidate for their political party for the office of Governor at the last General Election at which a Governor was elected, but in no event less than 500 signatures. For 2022 only, these signature requirements shall be reduced by one-third. (10 ILCS 5/2A-1.1b(b), 7-10(h))”

I know for congress and for state legislature they just have a nice solid number in redistricting years.

600 for congress (which would be reduced by 1/3 to 400) and 500? for state rep and 1000? for state senate (which would be reduced by 1/3).

Maybe in a redistricting year they should just use the 500 number in regard to the courts.

Those numbers themselves are wack, but in any case I think it should be a nice solid number like that in principle for a redistricting year (and a number IS already provided) — it should not based off the percentage of a vote in a district that has yet to vote or a district that is about to be defunct and that nobody is running for. That’s just ridiculous.

It’s called use your brain, dummy!

But on the other hand these candidates who didn’t put in the work to get the signatures are dummies too because they should have gotten way more than was necessary and should have collected signatures *assuming the state would take the most burdensome interpretation not the most lenient for them* so yeah Cal I think the candidates are stupid too!

    Mark Curran and Nancy Rotering?

Yeah, I’m fine with those knuckleheads being thrown off the ballot!

Hutchinson, a lot of people here say she is a “RINO.”

I don’t know anything about her and nobody has explained how she is a RINO so I don’t have strong feelings about that one.

    Candidates should take more care.

The state should be more clear.

  2. Correcting still embraces the ERIC software that maintains voter rolls, the Dominion and ES$S cheat machines that he trusts 100% as well as no voter id to deliver the electorate candidate over the finish line. Why not wake up Correcting. All the analysis Lopez and you do in the world blind you from the reality of how elections are stolen. Oh, that’s right Lauren Underwood won after 4 days of counting because Oberweis didn’t fit your political role model. Wake the F up would you. Joe Tirio is not the best thing since sliced bread. Neither are the libs running against him.

Zuckeridiot put close to a half a trillion into cheating 2020. What’s his rebranded cheat machine paying 80m for this time around?

  3. This isn’t about election software. It’s about objections to candidacies.

    You’re lying again.

I do support voter ID. You’re lying.

Regarding vote machines, I’ve said I prefer a more primitive paper system — same as Cal has suggested. You’re lying.

Not sure why you need to constantly strawman/lie about what people believe.

Your problem is you haven’t proven any problems in McHenry County other than one guy who failed to change his voter registration and is now being criminally prosecuted.

The machines are scan trons. They scan paper ballots. If a machine “changed the vote” all you’d have to do is count the ballots and you’d find the numbers don’t match. Since I don’t see you funding any effort for recounts around here to prove your grand claims, I just don’t take you as a serious person. Since you said Tirio needed to answer questions and then you ran away like a soyboy beta when he did have a forum, I don’t take you as a serious person. I think you’re someone who wants to cause discord and replace Joe Tirio with a Democrat while puffing out your chest and LARPing about how great Trump is.

You haven’t provided any list of people who illegitimately voted in McHenry County yet you claim this was widespread.

    Where’s the list JT?

Why haven’t you filed criminal complaints?

Why do you sit on a blog posting Townhall links instead of trying to take down the vote riggers of McHenry County if you have such irrefutable proof?

    Because you don’t and you’re a clown.

You can cry all you want about mail in ballots but those are rules set by the state not Joe Tirio so I don’t know why you think it’s so important to replace him with radical Democratic activists.

Yeah, sorry I’m not such a moron that I think Mary Mahady or Drew Georgi would be warriors for Donald Trump and blow the lid open on cheating.

    You’re delusional.

Regarding Underwood’s win, it’s not that hard to figure out how one party that shuns vote by mail and one party that promoted vote by mail would have a great difference in numbers.

Oberweis still won McHenry County but you sit here on this blog ranting about Joe Tirio instead of looking at DuPage County where Underwood won a precinct with 80 percent.

What work are you doing in the counties Oberweis and Trump lost?

Yet you sit here ranting and raving in McHenry County, about rigging, none of which you have ever proved.

You bring up Oberweis who did some recounts and didn’t find “vote switching” like your schizo delusions.

His objection was procedural — saying that certain votes should have been disqualified and most of that centered in Kane County.

Oberweis never claimed thousands of votes were switched.

And then when people comment on topic all you have to contribute is to make things up about what people think.

I’ve told you what I think.

    You continue to lie.

    You’re a loser.

Let me know when you want to do anything meaningful instead of arguing on McHenry County Blog and acting as a useful idiot for Democrats trying to turn this county into Chicago.

  4. FWIW… the supreme court challenges are going to be appealed, and there is case law in support of the three that are being kicked off.

I have no idea how this is going to play out… but this definitely isn’t final.

Interestingly, the Elections Board overruled both the hearing officer and the Board’s general counsel.

**Zuckeridiot put close to a half a trillion into cheating 2020.**

JT, I know that facts don’t matter to you, but didn’t he give about $400M?

Which is very, very far from 500 BILLION.
