Downtown Crystal Lake Pizza Provider Has Relatively Small Fire

From the Crystal Lake Fire/Rescue Department comes this report of a fire damagning That’s Amore Pizza on the Northeast corner of Main Street and the railroad track:

STRUCTURE FIRE – 105 N. Main St.

Crystal Lake, IL – At 9:18 pm, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department was notified of a possible structure fire at That’s Amore Pizza.

The employees called 911 reporting a fire involving a pizza oven that had spread into the oven’s ductwork and eventually the roof of the business.

Prior to the fire department’s arrival, the employees had used three fire extinguishers in an attempt to control the fire.

The first fire unit arrived on location at 9:22 pm and reported a small fire in the ductwork of the pizza oven.

Additional crews arrived on scene and reported a larger fire on the roof that was quickly extinguished.

The fire was declared under control at 9:46 pm.

The business sustained some smoke damage inside and fire damage to the roof.

The McHenry County Department of Health and the Crystal Lake Building Division were notified.

The business will remain closed until repairs are made and the Health Department approves resuming food service.

Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $10,000.

There were no injuries to any firefighters.

Crystal Lake Fire Rescue was assisted by several area fire departments.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation by Crystal Lake Fire Rescue investigators.
