UPDATE: Apparent Smoking Gun about Tony Colatorti’s Leaving Prairie Grove Police Department Surfaces

A Freedom of Information request to the Village of Prairie Grove has brought new information to light concerning the parting of ways of Police Chief Tony Colatorti and the Village.

This started with his opponent Robb Tadelman’s releasing two emails about Colatorti’s leaving Prairie Grove.

The first was dated September 18, 2020, and is seen below:

The second was four days later on September 22, 2020, and is shown below:

In rebuttal, Colatorti pointed to the minutes of the next Village Board meeting, plus his being given the K-9 dog and a retired chief’s badge. The relevant section of the minutes is below:

You may remember I then asked for disciplinary records for Colatorti and was told there were none.

A reader suggested I be less specific, so after receiving the emails posted above, I requested, “documents, recordings, texts, etc., concerning the emails to Antonio Colatorti on 9-18-2020 and 9-22-20.”

What was provided was a September 17, 2020, memo from Village President David Underwood to Village Administrator Michael Freese. It is below the accompanyinfg email.

Note the “RECOMMENDATION: Termination of employment” at the bottom of the memo on which I have reversed the color.

After receiving the memo, Administrator Freese sent this email to Village President Underwood:

UPDATE: Apparent Smoking Gun about Tony Colatorti’s Leaving Prairie Grove Police Department Surfaces — 27 Comments

  1. Interesting findings.

The email from Mr. Freese says it all.

  2. All this shows is that Freese couldn’t micromanage/control Colatori, many of the gov administrators I’ve known were over baring jerks.

Underwood’s need to point out he has a PH.D is laughable, Otto Ohlendorf had a PH.D also, and he’s a prime example of a highly educated dude who did dumb smit.

  3. And people want to put this guy in charge of an even larger police force and the jail?

  4. Because, yes we do!

This is just rubbish theTadeltwinkie and Franks want to besmirch Tony with.

Last minute lies bc he wouldn’t go along with libtard cancel culture!

Why is Lopez censoring posts ?

  5. For once I agree with the nob.

    Underwood’s degree is in Sociology.

And he’s an utter bureaucrat commissar of the left.

    Colatorti all the way!

Do you really want Tadelboy enforcing new vax BS…. not just on the Sheriff’s Dept BUT ON ALL OF US!

Plus Tadelfeeb is climate change loon!

  6. In an interview with the NW Herald, recently retiring Police Chief Canada discussed his challenges and accomplishments in his time as Chief of Prairie Grove.

He referred to the Evidence Room as being in “shambles” when he arrived.

  7. How do you bring Jack Franks into a reply to a Freedom of Information request of the Village of Prairie Grove?

  8. But…..But….But…. Kenneally is endorsing him and brought the House Down!

    ‘SCHULTZ!!!!!!!’

  9. I’d hardly describe this as a smoking gun.

Popcorn fart would be a far more apt description.

Colatorti and his bosses didn’t see eye to eye, so Colatorti had to go.

    It happens all the time.

  10. The mayor & town council are his boss.

    This is not rocket science.

And again, tiny towns don’t need a police department filled with part timers, the sheriff’s department is better equipped and professional.

  11. It appears that Colatorti was accused of inappropriate conduct with a female staff member who he then apparently tried to browbeat to change her story.

It also seems to show that he is a hothead who can’t control his temper.

If the evidence room comment is at all accurate, he is also incompetent.

    This should sink his campaign.

If it doesn’t derail him in the primary it will be great fodder for a Democratic challenger in the Fall.

    This is an administrative position.

You need someone who can be a good administrator and work well with others.

His politics beyond that don’t matter.

  12. I saw Colatari out on Route 47 putting up more campaign signs.

    And then desperation sets in……..

  13. Not a lot of comments here from the Colatorti defenders.

    It must be cricket season….

  14. Found this on Tadelman’s Facebook page:

Robb Tadelman for McHenry County Sheriff

“Robb is a proven and exemplary leader, with over 18 years of experience with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department. During this time, he has been solid manager and a great custodian of taxpayer dollars. Robb Tadelman is a choice of excellence for the Office of McHenry County Sheriff and quite frankly a political talent we can’t afford to lose. “

  15. Did Tony really think he could get away with all his lies ?

The truth always comes out and thanks to Cal for that!

No one can dispute all these emails…

Tony is a bully, narcissist and liar ….

All the smoke and mirrors in the world can’t help him …

To have him in charge of the whole county would be a disaster…

and shame on Kenneally , Tirio and any other McHenry County employee for endorsing an incompetent wannabe ……

  16. What do the McHenry County police officers say? Who do they support?

  17. Question for Happy- Why does the majority of your employees and the Fraternal Order of Police back Colatorti and not your good old boy?

That alone speaks volumes of the sheriffs departments lack of confidence in Tadelman.

  18. What would people here say about this if it was Jack Franks who did it?

    Wait a minute, he DID!

  19. Buehler is a nitwit. He’s lazy and maybe approaches a 95 IQ.

He preaches shibboleths like ‘racial justice’, gets alot of perks and pals around with scum like Irvin.

  20. Koziol, you don’t have a clue!

Buehler’s the ***Chairman of the County Board!!!**** Elected by the voters.

He does not pal around with Irvin, either.

The current Chairman of the McHenry County Republicans is Tyler Wilke.

Go sop up Buehler’s 95 IQ, sounds like your iQ of 1 could use some friends.

Hopefully they’ll screw enough to multiply.

    smh, you’re brain dead.

  21. BS,

Where are you getting the “inappropriate conduct with a female staff member” from?

All I see are references to unspecified “allegations” and “performance issues.”

The female staff member is variously described as being a witness and being “indirectly involved.”

Do you know something we don’t know, or are you making stuff up?

Does it bother any of you Tadelman supporters that Tadelman was one of three deputies who unlawfully entered an innocent man’s home and pointed their guns at him? The County was sued and had to pay up.

A gross violation of a citizen’s constitutional rights is a far bigger deal to me than an employment dispute.

  22. Colatorti is the Constitutional choice. Hell, he’s the only honest one running as a Republican. And he’s QUALIFIED! He’s a Leader!

Prim is trying to pull the same Good Old Boy racket that the ‘ Walrus’ Nygren tried with his water boy Zinke !
New boss, same as the old boss it turns out!

Mayor Underwood micro-manages his villages townspeople too. Remember the awful bullying he had his police officers do with Gianelli’s because of his American flag display? And his A-frame signs letting people know he was open after Covid? Underwood’s an ass! Maybe Tony said ‘sorry boss, I don’t bully people!’
    So he had to go.

Tadelmans camp are rabid dogs who intimidate people . Look at all the bullshit on his fb page, to who he hangs with ( most everyone on his campaign are Democrats!) They’re calling businesses and complaining about them supporting Colatorti. I know of restaurants who got calls and my lawyer got a call telling him to ‘get that sign out of your front yard!’ Then they call Sheriff Clarke and tell him not to come? Freakin’ nuts. That’s not who I want as Sheriff. What will Tadelman do if he gets the power? I shudder to think! Sick of his crap! Sick puppy!

    I’m voting Colatorti.

  23. Start shuttering!!

It’s over for Colatorti….. accept the loss

  24. Yes, the chairman of the McHenry County Republican Party is Wilke.

Buehler is chairman of the county board.

However, the post by wizard of id is a bit misleading since if you check out Tadelman’s post the “chairman” who endorsed was Mike Tryon, a FORMER chairman of the party.

Tyron wasn’t even the last chairman or the chairman before the last chairman.
