Confined Space Incident
Crystal Lake, IL – On June 21, 2022 at 1708 hours the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Departmenand Crystal Lake Police Department were dispatched to a retention pond behind 5580 Northwest Highway for the report of two juveniles who climbed into a storm water drainage pipe.
After investigation, it was determined that bystanders had phone contact with the victims but had lost
contact with them.
Crews on scene began a rescue operation to locate and remove the victims.
During the operation, two bystanders informed Crystal Lake Police that they had located the two victims approximately 850 feet from the origin through a manhole opening.
The two victims were removed from the drainage pipe and transported to a medical facility for precautionary evaluation.
A MABAS Box alarm for assistance was requested by the scene incident commander but was cancelled once the victims were located.
Pond is right behind the Target Store, near business park.
Crystal Lake has a Venture???? I thought those went out of business a long time ago?
