Vehicle Theft and Burglaries
In the early morning hours on Thursday June 23, 2022 the Cary Police Department received multiple reports of subjects attempting, and in some cases successfully entering unlocked motor vehicles and stealing items.
There was also a vehicle stolen from the driveway of a residence in the same area.
The stolen vehicle was then used to commit similar crimes in Cary, a s well as neighboring jurisdictions.

These incidents in Cary occurred in residential areas in the northeast region of the Village.
The Cary Police Department reminds residents to ensure their vehicles are locked, with no valuable items in plain sight within the vehicle.
Be mindful that newer model vehicles may not lock if there is a spare key fob inside the vehicle, and never leave a vehicle unlocked with a key inside the vehicle.
These are typically crimes of opportunity, and in the majority of cases the offender(s) will bypass a locked vehicle to attempt to find an unlocked vehicle.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity, including suspicious people and vehicles, by calling 911 and providing the location, description, and direction of travel of the individuals/vehicle. Do not attempt to confront these individuals on your own.

So, it was dark outside but there were probably driveway and or other lights at various house as shown in the picture.
Did any residents happen to notice anything about the subjects?

Heard on a news show recently that a homeowner could be liable for a person breaking into their backyard, getting into a swimming pool and then drowning.
The family of the drowned dead person could then sue the homeowner of the swimming pool for loss of their loved one.
The news show recommended that homeowners with backyard pools should have one million dollars of liability insurance.

Cary PD, in particular the Chief is ADAMANTLY Opposed to any kind of real Neighborhood Patrol kind of citizen policing.
Something as simple as organized citizens driving around and simply reporting via radio or 911 suspicious activity and the Chief will not get behind it.
I looked into helping once with their Citizen Police Group they do have, but those people are only used as being Traffic Cones for large events like parades and running races.
Cary is an Open playground to thieves.
Cops are nowhere, solve little and dont use residents in ways many other towns do to help their local Police with real Police help.
