State Senator Craig Wilcox wins McHenry Precinct 4 by 50 votes which is a supermajority when only 132 votes were cast

State Senator Craig Wilcox (R, McHenry) defeated McHenry Township Republican Chairman Erik Sivertsen from being a Republican precinct committeeperson.

The vote wasn’t even close, with Wilcox winning 69% of the vote with 91 votes, compared with Sivertsen’s 41 votes.

UPDATE 7/3/22, 2:34AM CDT: Senator Wilcox posted a comment to this article explaining this race and reinforcing Sivertsen will have a place within the McHenry Township Republican Party as an appointed precinct committeeperson (PC) soon after the county convention on July 27:

“This PC race was not about removing Erik.

“It was about redrawn maps that put us together in a single precinct, that simple.

“Erik and I had talked about it, and we both know being a PC is tough work, a vital position to help Republicans, and we both want to be involved.

“I am confident Erik will accept an appointment to a PC position in the township and remain involved with McHenry Township GOP. McHenry Township GOP has had a great year with the sheriffs forum and the Jun 4th candidate Grand Old Party at the Farm.

“Erik has been instrumental in this resurgence and will remain a valuable asset to McHenry Township GOP and McHenry County GOP.

“During this Presidential Administration we want all Republicans working together towards November 2022, and Erik and I were both just at a meeting this week to revise bylaws to help us get better.

“I look forward to continuing to work with Erik to expand Republican values and voter involvement as we look to keep McHenry Township and McHenry County strongholds of our shared values.”

=== END OF UPDATE ===

So in addition to being the odd man out of the McHenry County Board District 6 Republican primary by 492 votes to Carl Kamienski (R, Johnsburg), Sivertsen will not be an elected committeeperson.

Along with Kamienski, McHenry County Board Member Pam Althoff cruised to renomination in the District 6 primary as the top vote-getter.

All vote totals are based on unofficial returns.

Sivertsen joins Dundee Township Republican Organization Chairman Michael Bielak (R, Algonquin) as a local township Republican chairman who failed to win reelection as a precinct committeeperson.

  1. Why do people in that district keep voting Pam Althoff in?

She goes against their self interests.

  2. The time to vote against Pam Althoff was on Tuesday.

Those who don’t like Althoff for whatever reason, had their chance, and blew it for whatever reason.

Althoff will leave the County Board when she wants to leave the County Board.

  3. Thanks for saying that.

Hopefully enough people will say ‘over my dead body’ and get enough gumption to vote her the Hell Out!

  4. Wow, that’s too bad.

Erik was a really conservative Republican in the party and that township!

  5. I will tell you why the state and the county are a disaster.

It’s called the stupidity of the voters.

    Plain and simple.

  6. This PC race was not about removing Erik.

It was about redrawn maps that put us together in a single precinct, that simple.

  7. Thank you Senator Wilcox for your comment explaining the circumstance.

I’ve revised the article to give your comment more prominence, and made a change to a more appropriate wording of what happened (“defeated” opposed to “ousted”).

  8. “Why did Althoff win?”

All the incumbents won with nary any signage, endorsements or campaigning.

This was a given and then the people “bitch” about it.

People, including the board and “PACS” do not want radical newbies that run aggressive elections on cutting governmental jobs, bashing the teachers, bashing the school boards, going up against unions, fighting mandates or reducing the board.

Hell, many of those very borgs you can still see walking in Walmart with a mask on, feeling good as they do their “duty” in “keeping America safe.”

THESE PEOPLE ARE THE PACS ESSENTIALLY.

The teachers, unions, Illinois State Board of Education, government workers, and yes, even the McHenry County Board and those PACS.

Protecting each other along the way, whilst kicking the can, getting “what’s mine” and Fuc the best interest of Illinois and the voter.

You voted for this, so don’t bitch about it. That’s what Illinois does.

  9. I think A Bernier’s question said WHY not WHEN.

I would be interested in the WHY as well, especially given his second sentence.

  10. Steve on
You summed it up very clearly.

Will our legislators buck the teachers union clout and get the toxic preverted curriculum out of the very early grades in our schools?

It starts right in our back yards when school board elections are won by teacher-related candidates. And while we’re at it.

OUR schools should be available for polling places.

    This can be done safely.

  11. It’s really quite simple.

Conservative are lazy, liberals are motivated and keep fighting every election and not depend on a few tokens like Trump or even Reagan to win the war.

That’s why the 20% that are liberals run over the 40% that are conservative even in “Republican” counties like McHenry.

Despite Dan Schultz https://precinctstrategy.com/ on Steve Bannon’s show, the average conservative would rather waste his time watching sports and Sean Vanity and listening to Levin rather than take a few hours a month to become a precinct committeeman.

Everyone commenting on this site ought to be either a precinct committeeman or know that their Republican precinct committeeman is a platform conservative Republican.

Otherwise they are just keyboard warriors wasting everyone’s time.

A State Senator knows the power of the precinct committeeman.

    How about you?

  12. GOP precinct committeement do virtually nothing come election time.

You can count the number who actually will work their precinct in the entire county on your fingers.

Democrats are going to be even more motivated this year due to the SCOTUS decisions while the Reps are avoiding even talking about abortion after having made such a big deal about it for the past several decades.

  13. Wilcox wrote

“Erik has been instrumental in this resurgence and will remain a valuable asset to McHenry Township GOP and McHenry County GOP.”

    Resurgence of what? Gluttony?

When Wilcox starts paying property taxes, maybe I’ll pay attention to his blatherings.

  14. Mr. Lopez had to change the wording because sonebody got butthurt and cried about it.

  15. Yes, most Republican committeemen are not motivated conservatives who try to elect the best people every cycle.

If they were, we wouldn’t have the “leadership” we do. Politics will always have people only interested in feeding off the pork.

The “goody-goody” types that actually care about issues are always a minority.

The difference is that there are far more of those types in the Democrat party than in the Republican party.

Just 10% more conservative committeemen in McHenry who actually did something for a conservative candidate would revolutionize politics in McHenry.

But it’s so much easier to say “what’s the use” and go back to entertainment, including just pretending to be a political expert.

I wonder if BecauseScience (like masks stop viruses?) is in the wrong party.

Nobody but a handful of limousine liberals will be motivated by tax funded abortion on demand with no parental notice, which by the way is the Illinois law that will still be in effect after the Supreme Court sends this issue back to the states.

No parental notice on a minor’s abortion is just as much a losing issue as the mandatory lockdowns and masks for children in schools.

I hope the Democrats keep pushing gun control and tax funded abortion on demand with no parental notice as the solution to all our economic and social problems.

If they do, we might have a minor miracle and get Bailey elected.

  16. Is that guy 450lbs?

Of course Wilcox ousted him. It had to be down.

Does he live with his folks?

  17. Metis, what does his weight or whether he lives with his folks have to do with whether he’s a good hard-working Conservative for the Republican Party?

    Are you really that shallow?

  18. MegMom, Sivertsen is a fake, or semiretarded. He did absolutely nothing on the school board except take up space.

He knows who I am because I protested the lgbtq school agenda back in ’16. And he did nothing. Absolutely nothing. “But Erik is the conservative” I was repeatedly told. Bull. Totally ineffectual.

One son was enrolled at the time. I pulled my daughter out of public schools.

  19. Sivertsen seems to be big on big government.

Another pig at the pastry cart.

  20. Erik, you lied to several of us at a candidates meet and greet, where you spent an hour convincing us you supported Robb Tadelman.

Colatorti never showed, so you worked us pretty good.

However, you have now lost support and business from many of us for being disingenuous and unprincipled.

There is no room in the Republican party for operatives like you—probably why you lost.

  21. I used to like Erik.

    Now I shun him.

People shouldn’t make fun of him because of his weight.

    Focus on his treachery.
