Public Act 102-0522
On June 14, 2022, ISBE adopted the National Sex Education Standards (NSES) in response to Public Act 102-0522.
At this time, District 47 will not be adopting the new sex education standards, which are part of P.A. 102-0522 (also referred to as Senate Bill 818).
P.A. 102-0522 states that school districts may adapt the curriculum to the specific needs of their community as long as all instruction and materials, including any provided and/or presented by outside individuals or organizations, do not conflict with the law.
At this time, District 47 will not be adopting the new sex education standards (NSES). We understand that there has been inaccurate information being shared in the media and on social media about our response to the new standards. As a result, we felt it was important to let our families know that we are not adopting the new sex education standards to hopefully stop the spread of misinformation. Per ISBE, the new learning standards do not need to be adopted by school districts except in very limited circumstances. Additionally, P.A. 102-0522 states that school districts may adapt the curriculum to the specific needs of their community as long as all instruction and materials, including any provided and/or presented by outside individuals or organizations, do not conflict with the law. District 47 routinely reviews all curriculum for relevance, instructional practices, content/skill, timeliness of resources, and when the state issues new standards and/or guidance. Similar to other pieces of legislation, the district has incorporated P.A. 102-0522 into the curriculum review process.
About P.A. 102-0522:
- Consistent with state law and past practices, parents/guardians may opt their children out of sex ed instruction by submitting a request in writing to the building principal.
- School districts must annually post, on their website (if one exists), the curriculum used to provide comprehensive personal health and safety and comprehensive sexual health education. Districts must also include the name(s) and contact information (including an email address) of school personnel who can respond to inquiries about instruction and materials. District 47 posts curriculum information on its website and contact information for the health curriculum is below. Please check back for an update on this page prior to the start of the 2022-23 school year.

What do our Democrat controlled Illinois Legislature and the Democrat Governor Pritzker want school boards around the State to do with regard to sex information for children? Consider a bill numbered SB 818 that they passed in that regard.
Public schools in Illinois might start teaching young children a number of sexual and deviant matters per the “Keeping Youth Safe and Healthy Act” (SB 818).
Left wingers, liberals, and Democrats sometimes choose a nice sounding term or a name for bills that create laws that are contrary to, 180 degrees opposite, of what the name or title suggests.
That is the “Keeping Youth Safe and Healthy Act (SB 818)” passed in Illinois in 2021. The title sounds nice. An innocent and innocuous title. Who would not want to keep youth safe and healthy?
But within that bill, school children as young as eight will learn about gender identity and sexual orientation.
Children as young as eleven will learn about different types of sex, sexual exploitation, and trafficking.
Children will also learn about deviant sexual acts.
These topics are properly the domain of parents and parental education of their children at an appropriate age and maturity. Parents’ authority will be usurped by teachers of schools that will adopt SB 818.
All of this “sex education” was cloaked in the nice sounding “Keeping Youth Safe and Healthy Act (SB 818)” that sneaky Democrats wrote, sponsored and passed with a title that misinforms parents and the public.
The only Jew I’m aware of who manipulated divine laws was Jesus.
