Dems Slate Lou Ness, Mother of Suzanne, to Run for County Board in District 7, GOP Matthew Kunkle in District 1

Local political parties filed two candidates for the McHenry County Board.

They are Lou Ness, former Director of Turning Point and Matthew Kunkle, retired businessman from Algonquin.

Kunlel’s candidacy was reported the night of his being canvassed in by the Republican Precinct Committeepersons in Algonquin’s District 1.

Ness is, of course, a Democrat.

She will be running against Jeffrey Schwartz and Brian Sager in District 7.

  1. It would be nice if Cal/John could post Dem vs GOP figures for each of the County Board districts based on the 2020 election results so we could see which ones are genuinely competitive.

Please note that the most recent national polling is showing Democrats gaining in the generic vote vs Republicans, despite inflation, gas prices and Biden’s abysmal approval ratings. This is probably due to the social issues like abortion and guns.

If Trump decides to declare his candidacy before the midterms, you may see a significant further Democratic surge.

County Board races are likely to follow the general trends as people usually do not know anything about the actual candidates and just vote their party preference de jure.

The GOP is on the way to snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory thanks to pushing their radical social agendas down everyone’s throats.

Be careful what you wish for….

  2. Never vote for the party that puts illegal border jumpers rights above US citizens rights.

Should be a simple choice for anyone with an IQ above 95

  3. I don’t think Trump will be able to restrain himself, and will make it all about himself. You know, ‘cause it worked so well in Georgia.

I think he’s a far larger headwind than the social issues are. But were he to be quiet, it would just be an acknowledgement of that fact, so…..

He’s a far greater net negative than social issues. While seeming raw now, and still unresolved, they’ll probably simmer down by then. Outrage only lasts so long, as it seems to be the permanent undercurrent to seemingly almost everything these days.

But not if Donald had anything to do with it. And he will. And it will suck.

  4. Isn’t Lou Ness the *mother* of Suzanne?

    Not the daughter?

  5. So many typo mistakes besides the obvious one you point out, Citizen Editor.

    Thank you.

  6. Monk thinks Brad and Brian in GA are legitimate. What an educated dope smoking savant.

Was 2000 Mules a farce too Monk?

  7. What a horrible dilemma for the voters in D7.

Do you bullet vote for Schwartz or hold your nose and vote for both Schwartz and Sager to try and keep Ness out.

If I lived in that district, I would vote for an unknown generic Democrat over Sager, but Ness is just awful.

  8. 2000 Mules is a movie. There is no actionable information. It’s a Giuliani Production. Theories unfettered by evidence. That thing you need in court. That thing that everybody has and nobody delivers on…andonandonandonandonandon…

  9. Hey Cal, why not do a little digging on the deep money group called “Take Back the Court” that the Pritzker’s are affiliated with.

That ought to be good for your blog.

  10. There was that little kerfuffle where Lou Ness accepted money for “Turning Point” that was meant for a different “Turning Point” and kept it even though no grant application had been made by her “Turning Point.”

  11. The outcome that we should all hope for is the defeat of Brian Sager.

He is a person without integrity or truthfulness.
